  • Need suggestions for an alternative

I cook not only for me but for my room mates too who are not low carbing it. We are all used to my home made kebabs that i add "chickpea flour" to.. eek!
there is 64g carb per 100g flour and for me that a no no. Is there an alternative floury type thing i can use. Without the use of some form of flour my mixture doesnt fry very well(kind of crumbles apart)

    Thank You

Some people use ground linseed (flax in USA) or ground pork rinds to replace flour in recipes for induction.
Once you move to OWL rung 3 you could use ground almonds.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

      check out

      or

there are many good flour alternatives (course you HAVE to be mindful of the rung you are on and not adding them until you are on the appropriate rung - as well as the adding 5 net carbs rule)...

most are added during rung 3 (nuts) as you've got:
almond flour (fabulous for pancakes! i have a recipe if you'd like it...)

      hazelnut flour

coconut flour (this one's a little difficult as the serving size is only 2 tbsp for 4 net carbs)

plus - once you're past the nuts rung - you CAN use almond flour for different types of muffins and other such too.

but - as far as a coating goes - a lot of people (such as elizaellen stated) use pork rinds - many also use hard parmesan cheese. flax seed is great

here's a great site i love perusing around.

I'm not sure what type of kebabs you make...is it something like the North Indian Seekh Kebab made with ground lamb? All I can think of off the top of my head is maybe trying Kofta instead only using lamb and adding the garam masala and other spices?

If you post your kebab recipe, we could maybe come up with a suitable conversion to be Induction friendly.

Have you thought of a plan to deal with the meals of the non Atkins roommates? Do they realize that you will now be cooking things differently? Many people prepare an Atkins menu and make some kind of starch side for the others. Would that work?

For yourself, don't use more than 1 tbsp of flax per day. That's the limit for Induction, unless you are constipated. And don't give others too much either, or they'll fight for the bathroom.
