  • Low Carb Whey Powder

    Hi all,

I've recently seen a recipe for some low carb bread and would love to make some - does anyone know where I can get some low carb whey powder for it in the UK or a brand name that I can search for?

    thanks for your help

    Re: Low Carb Whey Powder

Whey powder would not be 'legal' for induction as it is a milk product, but once you reach the 2nd OWL level/rung it could be one of your 5 net carb additions.

It is a protein powder so would be available from most health food shops as well as online.
The lowcarb online stores also sell it - www.lowcarbmegastore.co.uk is one I have used but there are many others in UK.

Extensive use of a protein powder can make you run the risk of ingesting too much protein, and as Atkins WOE is a high fat way of eating rather than a high protein one it might throw out any balance of fat/protein/carbs in your menus.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thanks so much for your reply Elizellen,

I have to say your pictures of before and after are a very positive motivator for me - well done!

That's interesting to know. I keep thinking that once I reach my target weight I'll be on a diet close to a Low GI type diet - which allows things like all-bran and wholemeal seeded bread and even new potatoes. I understand that everyone has their own unique level of carb tolerances, and suspect that once you've been doing the diet for a while it becomes second nature; but what I want to know is is it as difficult to maintain as induction is if you aren't well prepared and organised?

      thanks
