  • 3 MONTH STALL help please before I loose faith in Atkins

    :help
    I need advice, i started atkins in october 2005, 166 lbs 5'6' and jogged at least 3 times a week for 45 min lost 12 pounds by december which i think is sooo slow (i cheated a few times)

    -then since Feb i work out 6 days a week for 1hr 30 mins, 30 mins cardio, then light weights with my personal trainer i am soaked in sweat every day and my trainer says girl you work really hard!! BUT WHAT ARE YOU EATING?

    i have lost no weight since jan 2005 and i barley have lost any inches just 2 inch off my waist and 1 inch off my thigh thats IT!!! thanks to the trainer!

    dialy diet:
    breakfast every morning:scrambled eggs, sausages,1 slice cheese, tea with splenda

    Lunch:stirfry chicken diet soda
    chicken and veg or chken soup,
    lots of water and sometimes 1 spoon of rice very rare

    snacks: handful fruitloops, slice cheese,sugar cane,or hershey mini chocolate this is like about three times a week and one time i had a slice of cheese cake 2 weeks ago

    as you can see i'm being very honest about the cheating but the cheating is very very minimal

    and nothing JUST NOTHING FOR 3 MONTHS!!!! WHAT THE HELLL

    what should i just resort to eating a boiled chiken breast for breakfast lunch and dinner, becuase trust me i am miss fitness and those foods i cheat with burn up quick in my 1hr 30 in workout plus i have sex like crazy with my boyfriend so that counts too in the excersise sweat drips off both of us when we are done

    soo if i just eat the bioled chken breast im am going to drop dead!!
    somebody please what am i doing wrong
    is it the diet soda that has no carbs or calories
    plus i take 1 tab chromium picolinate evey day

    I am sorry to be harsh but get rid of the cheating it's good that your honest but, the cheating is what is probably killing you. All the things you cheat on are laced with so much sugar. you work so hard to burn fat then cheat and your body is so confused it not even funny. You go into ketosis and start burning fat then you cheat your insulin spikes and you have to wait 2 days to get back into fat buring mode over and over you do this to yourself. As soon as you eat the sugar your body grabs onto it like crazy storing it then you delpleat and do it again. You need to stp cheating go back to induction and do a clean one. I am sure your body will reward you with a loss in weight.

    Please have faith in yourself you don't need that stuff. If you need snacks make legal ones and you WILL have success.

    I am not trying to be a bag but I usaed to do this to myself I would be good for a week then I would cheat on the weekend I DID NOT lose weight doing this and I finally fell off and and gained a ton of weight. I used to think it was ok to have something bad here and there. Something is not working for you and I think by eliminating any cheating you will have a lot more success.

    Have faith and start a clean induction then report back tell us how you are doign every day cause we are all always here for you sometimes we just need a kick in the but.

      Get back to basics and ditch the sugary foods and the soda.

      This is a good time for you to re-read DANDR as well, and refresh yourself on how the diet works. One of the goals of Atkins is to keep your blood sugars level, so think about that when you have a handfull of sugary empty calorie stuff.

      Dr. Atkins said 'cheating is the kiss of failure'....time to deal with the sugar monster and defeat it...no excuses.

          Yep, count me in with the 'harsh'.

          Nix the crap foods. That includes the diet sodas that DO trigger cravings.
          A spoonful of rice ... um, NO!

          The fruitloops and other garbage has got to go. By eating those things, you are FEEDING THE CRAVINGS FOR MORE. The only way to permanently slay the sugar dragon is to STARVE IT TO DEATH.

          Great job with the exercise .. that means you can eat more calories .. just make sure you're eating ENOUGH, because too little calories and your body will hang on to every pound for fear you're trying to starve it.

          I recommend going to www.countcarbs.com and use their tools link to figure out your basal metabolic rate and also your active metabolic rate that factors in the exercise you're doing. Then you will know the minimum calories you need. You can also use www.fitday.com to input everything you are eating........

          DO NOT GIVE UP!! YOU CAN DO IT!

            I wanted to add my chant as well DON"T GIVE UP.. Nobody says you have to eat boiled chicken breasts each meal.. Eat what you like, just do it off the acceptable foods lists. I admire your exercise.. I wish I was that dedicated, YOU ROCK!! :clapping

            Your correct about burning off more calories when you workout that much, but just make sure they are not sugar filled empty calories!

              You're not doing Atkins at all, which is why 'atkins'' is not working. You're way off track. Like the other said ditch all the sugar, cheating, etc. And it doesn't appear you're eating nearly enough fat or veggies (nt sure why yu think you need to eat boiled chicken at each meal?). It doesn't seem you've read the book, I'd start there.

                yeah, umm, where are your vegetables? Thats where you should be getting your carbs instead of the rice.

                You should be spreading your vegetables throughout the day in every meal.

                I would recommend going back to induction and doing a CLEAN one for two weeks. Make sure your eating either 3 cups salad veggie or 2 cups salad veggie and 1 cup other veggies - all veggies from the induction list.

                And when was the last time you read your copy of DANDR?

                  sadie is right...you weren't doing Atkins...you were just doing your own version of low carb....read the book...read the stickies at the top of the page and do this diet the way it is supposed to be done...a clean induction...no little cheats here and there...no matter how you try to justify it they all add up to why you haven't lost weight...we can help you but you need to commit to doing this the right way...no excuses...good luck :joy

                    well the others have already told you you are not doing Atkisn and if you eat just boiled chicken you are not doint Atkins either as Atkins is a ketogenic eating plan and as such needs to be higher fat then any other component in your eating. 65% of those cals you consume need to be fat with only 30% of them as protein.

                    I'd strongly reacommend you reread your DANDR so you understand the hows and whys of Atkins and will know why doing your diet isn't Atkins and will not give you Atkins results.

                      Honey, I don't want to rain on your parade, but you are not doing Atkins. If you cut out all the sugary snacks, rice, and diet soda, and add 3 cups of veggies to your diet daily instead, you will see results. Try doing that for 2 weeks, and then post again. I'll bet you will see some real results.
