  • Is it ok to have diet soda and drinks

    Hi need to know if this abrupts weight loss becuase i drink diet pesi alot
    and i drink crystal light 0 carbs
    and water

    also where do i post my daily menu for them to get back to me and tell me what am i doing wrong

    Hi there. There is a 'review my menu' forum just down the list a wee bit where you can post your menu's for review. The problem with soda is twofold. Dr. Atkins advised us to not drink/injest caffeine and that is what we recommend here. No caffeine. Secondly, Dr. Atkins advised against the use of several artificial sweeteners, aspartame being one of them. Again, we follow that rule. If you can find soda sweetened with Splenda, and it contains no caffeine you can drink it as per the DANDR. However, one can is one serving of artificial sweetener, some would even say 1.5 servings, and we're only allowed 3 servings a day so be wary. We really recommend that during your two week induction period, try to stay away from sweet stuff altogether. We really want to break our addictions to sweets. The same would hold true for the Crystal Light. (Some is made with aspartame, some Splenda). Remember, none of these beverages count towards your daily water requirement. Hope that all made sense!

      yep now is the time to break your addiction to swet tasting stuff. If you are one of the 25% of the pop that diet soads sweetened with asperatame efect then you will not get the best Atkins results you could during this 14 day induction persiod you are working so hard on.

      Rereead your DADNR and you will see why you don't want that and the cafein in the pesi if it isn't caffeine free too and why only water counts as water.

          Everyone gave you great advice so i'll just comment here. I used to drink diet pepsi alot but it became a bad habit again that I had previously with junk food which caused my weight gain in the first place. Very addictive stuff and I personally feel the sweetners can't be good for you in that large of an amount. You will find it you can break the habit and drink all that soda amount in water you will feel much better and lose weight easier. The pure water is always better to have more of if you can.

            aspartame can spike insulin! Try to look at it this way as well.....if you are trying to change your habits for life getting rid of artificial 0 nutrition foods is the best start.......your body will thank you!
