  • How much fat?

    Hi there

I have another newbie quest!! Just used the fit day log to enter my meal for today and the fat content is above 90 g. Isn't that too much? don';t want to damage my haelth, esp since i haven't quite got a hang of this (i spent my induction not eating enough fat and have put on all that i lost, which was a measley 2.5 pounds)

I think because I'm deliberatley trying to increase the fat content, without increasing the protein too much (in order to keep the ratios correct) this is where teh problem lies?

    Thanks
    Nina

    Re: How much fat?

As long as you keep the ratios in line, don't worry about how many grams of fat you are eating. It isn't bad for you. Avoid trans-fats, the other fats are fine!

        Re: How much fat?

Sorry for the late response. Today my ratios are 68% fat, 25% protein 7% carbs

        Is that about right?

          Re: How much fat?

Maybe a tad high on the fat % but should be OK.

According to a Duke's University study the induction menus from DANDR worked out at about 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs.

Using a bit less mayo or butter (assuming you use it) would bring your fat% lower.

There is a good bit of info in the 14-day induction forum (I think) called something like 'how much fat should I be eating?' which goes into how to amend your ratios.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

If you are nauseated after a meal you have probably had too much fat.Otherwise eat all you want.Very hard to over eat on fat.

                Re: How much fat?

only when i drink a ton of liquid fat meat drippings all in 1 meal do i feel sick and thats cause my body cant absorb it all at once but saveing it and useing a normal amount of liquid fat during a meal is fine

but to get to your question besides what i just said you cant eat to much fat

10% of fat can be coverted to glucose 58% of protein can be converted to glucose and carbs like 100% and spikeing and such

so really watch your carbs thats the main thing and after you got your carbs perfect then make sure your protein is around 30% and as for fat you basically can never eat to much of it but you could very well not eat enough of it

and eating fat will not damage your health

                  Hi
I'm thinking this isn't working. My fat ratio's are the nearest to what they should be in teh past 2 weeks and I actually weigh more! I;m so disppapointed i feel that this isn't teh diet for me, as i can't afford to be putting on any weight and don't seem to be losing anymore than i would have done following any other diet?

                  my food yesterday was

                  1 cup mushrooms
                  1 med pepper
                  1 cup lettuce
                  3 eggs
                  6 oz mackeral
                  1tabl olive oil
                  75 g cream cheese
                  2 tabl cream
                  3 oz avocado
                  10 olives

Nina, how tall are you and what are your start weight and goal weight? If you can add this info to your signature it will help others get a 'handle' on how far along on your weightloss journey you are and give more relevant advice.

How tall are you? Have you been in ketosis since starting on the diet?

                        Re: How much fat?

I had to get rid of yeast when I first started to really get things going. And one other time I had problems but it turned out to be hormones. (Turned up pregnant!) Also, I do watch my calories. If it isn't working, it could be something else going on. Also, after induction, I stall for about two weeks then loose the water in a whoosh in a day or two. And your body can get use to being a certain weight and just not want to get any smaller. If that's the case, you just have to stick it out and hope it changes its mind. You don't have much to loose, so that's great! But its harder to loose the smaller you are sometimes. I hope you have healthy goals in mind for your hight and size frame. Check around, the charts differ. I do Atkins because it helps with hunger and I like eating this way. I also don't seem to loose much at all on other diets unless its a lot of muscle, like on a soup diet. If you can loose weight on other diets better, go for it! But remember its fat, not muscle you want to loose. My body just doesn't work like that.

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

                        1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
                        2nd mini goal: 140!
                        3rd mini goal:135!
                        4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.
