  • Complete loss of appetite

    I was just wondering if I absolutely HAVE to eat all 20 grams of my daily carbs, or can I get away with the 12 to 15 grams of veggies?

    I have pretty much completely lost my appetite, which is very strange since I used to be hungry (and unsatisfied) all the time, for a few years now.

    Now I'm not really looking forward to eating. Not because there's anything wrong with the food, but because it's awful having to eat when I'm not hungry.

    I'm still nibbling on some peppers and cucumbers with sour cream just to make sure I get my vegetable minimum in (I'll be at 12.8 when I finish them), and I had to put two packets of splenda in my coffee to push my total carbs up, which is only 16g for the whole day.

    Is this okay, or is it going to affect my weight loss?

    I am on day 5 of induction, and have lost 6lbs so far.

    We follow the book here. And the book says to eat three cups of veggies - So that is the main rule. And the secondary rule is that most of the carbs of the day should be be from veggies. And the last rule is not over 20 total carbs a day (but you can be under if you want to)

      you dont have to eat the 20 net carbs a day if your geting your vegetables in

      i used to always be hungry 24/7 myself before starting this diet

        If you eat as it instructs you to eat on the Acceptable Food List for Induction and the Rules of Induction, you will eat approximately 15-20 carbs a day. You need to count any Splenda or eggs or other things that have carbs against the same 20 gram maximum.

        And it isn't just about eating for hunger. You need to keep your digestive system processing veggies so that your next post isn't that you haven't gone to the bathroom in days.

          I hear you - I'm not hungry anymore either. I actually have to use the clock to tell me when to eat! I eat whether I'm hungry or not though, since I know that my body needs the fuel.

          My carbs range from 15 to 20 each day. I don't worry about it if I'm under, as long as I have had my veggies. If you radically undereat (as in consuming less than 1000 calories per day) it will affect your weight loss, as your body will switch to starvation mode. That's not good.

          But as for carbs? Get your 3 cups of veggies, and once you have those, don't worry about total number of carbs as long as you don't go over 20. Under is fine

            I'm never hungry either LittleLinda. When I'm in the middle of my meal I look at the food and am like wow, I have to start making smaller portions. I often don't finish what I prepared for myself. That's VERY unusual for me as I've been known to easily down a Papa John's large pie all by myself! hhha

            From what I know it sounds like you're in a good place with what you're doing.

              i love not being hungry and obessioning over food now.
              Yes I am also eating less meat. So now I figure Ill start Portion control learning

                I'm not real hungery either. I have trouble getting in 3 cups of veggies too. But I swear, its broccoli or the horrible fiber stuff in the kitchen. I just heat a bowl of in the microwave and melt some cheese on top. Cheese makes it all better. But its important to eat even if you arn't hungery. This morning I was in a rush, late to an appointment, missed breakfast. It took a lot of willpower to wait until I got home to good food and not buy something off the diet. Eat before leaving the house for sure! Sometimes eating more veggies can make you feel more like eating.



                My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

                1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
                2nd mini goal: 140!
                3rd mini goal:135!
                4th mini goal: 130!

                I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.
