  • thinking of quitting

    Hi
I'm thinking this isn't working. My fat ratio's are the nearest to what they should since i started 2 weeks ago (68% 25% and 7% carbs)and I actually weigh more! I;m so disppapointed i feel that this isn't the diet for me, as i can't afford to be putting on any weight and don't seem to be losing anymore than i would have done following any other diet?

    my food yesterday was

    1 cup mushrooms
    1 med pepper
    1 cup lettuce
    3 eggs
    6 oz mackeral
    1tabl olive oil
    75 g cream cheese
    2 tabl cream
    3 oz avocado
    10 olives

any advive would be greatly appreciated

Hmmm...Plenty of good help around. Let's bump this to the top and have some of the regulars look at it. Georgianna, Imagood1 (Carole) might be good PM resources for you. Best wishes to get this resolved.

I know how you feel Nina as that's EXACTLY where I am today. When I started this felt very unrestrictive now I feel like I don't know what direction to go in or whether it's even working or not.

I guess I'm not responding to give advice as I'm a newbie but just to commiserate and tell you I know how you feel... Frustrated here too and hoping to turn it around!

Best to you and it sounds like you have very good control over your diet which is definetly a plus!

Nina, as I said in one of my previous replies to you, you need to give Atkins some time to work. Your menu was too low in fat and, until 2-3 days ago, you were eating Atkins bars. You only increased your fat intake yesterday. It's unrealistic to expect any weight loss the next morning.

Be careful with the foods in the "Special Category" --- I see you are eating avocado and olives in the same day. Also, we are allowed at most half of a small avocado per day. 3 oz sounds a bit more than that to me.

Are you around TOM? What is your exercise routine?

          Hi

Thanks I will cut down on the avocados. I wasn't expecting to lose much but equally wasn't expecting to gain weight. i think if i carry on eating so much fat and i'm gaining this isn't good? I exercise daily for about 40 mins high aerobic and have been doing for the last 7 years. I'm concerned taht I'm eating too much protein also.

Your calories don't seem too high. What macronutrient percentages does your menu have? How much is fat, how much protein?

Can you make your FitDay account public, so that we take a look at all your numbers?

I would eliminate all of the "special category" foods (olives, avacado) for at least a week to see if that, the lack of atkins bars etc, and the proper fat/protein/carb ratio help. Weight fluctuates day-to-day, that is normal. IMO, give it at least a week of doing it properly before making a decision.

I think you just need time. It is always wisest to wait the 2 full weeks to weigh in during Induction because your body is coping with a lot of changes those first weeks and the scale will do crazy things. Cut back a bit on the avocado, stay away from the bars, and consider your Induction to start from today. Don't weight for at least a week (batter the full 2 if you can stand it) and drink pure water like crazy. A couple of days is not going to give you a true picture.

For many ladies TOM (time of month) plays a big part in what the scale says.

Sign in. Then click on the Profile tab (you have Overview, Profile, FitDay Premium, etc.). Scroll down that page and click on Public Settings Page. Then press the big button saying Make My Journal Public. Choose your public settings (you can choose whether you want to display food or food & weight). Then click on Change Public Settings. You will be given a link to your private journal (it should end in your FitDay username). Copy and paste that here, and that should be it.

                          Re: thinking of quitting

Also your weight can fluctuate over a week, which is why its better to weigh just once a week. Ex. I officially weigh every Sunday but during the week, I can go up 2-3 lbs, which is frustrating. I also gain 1-2 lbs right after doing an intense weight-lifting work out.

It's not uncommon to stall right after Induction and/or making changes to what you're eating as your body adjusts.

Make sure you are measuring inches.

One thing I've learned on this WOE is that weight loss is never consistent or linear. The key is to keep focused on doing the right things.. Sometimes its tuning what you're eating, changing exercise habits, and some times it's not doing anything. That's why its great to have ADBB for support to help you through.
