    Re: coffee

I never gave up coffee and I tried other diet sodas for a few weeks early on, but, came back to my favorite... Diet Pepsi. I have cut back on the soda drinking as its been replaced with water, but, I still have diet soda, coffee and tea... Obivously, each person will have different results.

      Re: coffee

You can add me to that coffee band wagon! I live for that first sip in the early morning! It is so danged good! I use heavy cream in it, and I actually do well with the cream because for me personally, the more fat I can add to my day, the better my weight loss seems to be, as well as my BG numbers! I have read all the pros and cons about the coffee, and some say it is full of antioxidents, etc and is perfectly fine to have. When I began induction 13 days ago, I wrestled with this issue, but in my heart, I knew I WANTED to stay with my coffee. It is an addiction that I enjoy and have no desire to give up. Hey, I am giving up sweets and bread and all the other things I always enjoyed, so this is my special treat! I say, you do whatever works well for you. If it gives you problems, well, you will have to make other choices. Tea can be good.......

Coffee trigger hunger responses in me. I had never realized that before. So when I drink coffee I want to eat. This is one of the things that I learned from Atkins that I am very grateful about. I now realize one of the reasons why I cannot control my eating: my coffee drinking habit was partly to blame. I feel so empowered knowing this. I can control it know - so that I do not end up super snacking.
That's what I like about Atkins. It encourages you to add things in slowing so you can figure these things out. And everyone is so different when it comes to these things.

Now that I'm in OWL & eating a lot of veggies, I can "afford" an extra one now & then. It is a nice "treat".

The caffeine addiction was a tough one to break, at first, but I don't miss it anymore. I miss ice cream way more
I also put cream in my coffee. When I cut it out for a bit not only was I hungrier but my weight loss slowed.

MMMMMMMM Nectar of the GODS..I love this stuff.. I used to go through 3-4 20oz cups a day. with 3 equals and a crap load of cream ( 6 of those creamer cups).
Since starting I've cut down big time. I only allow myself to have it on Mondays, Wed and Fridays, and one cup on Sat/Sunday. where I used to have these huge 20oz cups I'm now down to 12oz cup, 1 slpenda, and a small amount of cream.
On occasion when I'm not losing as often as I wish, I'll cut back on the coffee. Whether it is stalling me or not I have no idea, but it seems that the next remaining week, I tend to lose or start the losing process.
One thing has remained consistent, I've not gone out of ketosis wether drinking or not.

Anyhow that's my story and I'm sticking to it.. Now where's that starbucks card at? I need to go buy a Venti Carmel Machiotto J/K

                Re: coffee

I just found out yesterday that I have been seriously overestimating the amount of coffee I've been drinking...for some reason I thought a Dunkin Donuts medium was 24 ozs, DOH! It is only 16.

I've been leaving carbs on the table every day for a month now, LOL
