    Hi Reena,

First of all well done for what you have already accomplished! Losing 30lbs is tough!

I hear you on motivation - I sometimes struggle too, I think a lot of people here can relate to your feels of frustration.

I'd say you need to focus on what you have done and really push forward. I find that the following help me:
    - join the cheat free challenge: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...llenge-63.html
    - write a daily journal (on here or on paper) or what you eat and how many carbs this up. Keeps you accountable.
-When one thing slides (like food) don't use it as an excuse to give up on other stuff (like supplements or workouts)
    - Check out the success stories on here
    - Make sure you move up the rungs properly so you have a sense of progress and don't get bored with your food choices.

Finally, and most importantly, remember that eating stuff not on plan makes it a whole lot harder to stay on track when you want to. Bad food creates it's own cravings and by eating them you're making it harder on yourself to keep on plan even when you want to.

You can do it - you already have - best of luck!

Re: going kind of strong, need motivation =(

I have had a few planned cheat meals (I know this will probably start off a bit of a debate). On those days, I promised myself that I would get right back on Atkins, and I did, and it was no big deal. I didn't lose for one day, but then it started up again. The last time, though, I was at a friend's house, and had ONE slice of pizza and ONE margarita. I didn't lose weight for about five days. It just wasn't worth it. I have been a lot better since then. Once you realize that just one cheat can derail you, you get a lot better at resisting. I also focus on the positive--I can have bacon or steak whenever I want and not feel guilty. And finally, it's all about making substitutions for the things you crave: I am addicted to mashed cauliflower, which really does taste like mashed potatoes. I also whip up some cream with Splenda and cocoa when I miss chocolate.

Well seems like they talked you off the ledge, but trust me I know what your saying on going strong but often have that devil yelling in your ear saying Eat that cake, Pizza, French Fries.
But don;t beat yourself up over it. Keep in mind, Rome was not built in a day, you did not gain the wait in a day, and you won;t lose it all in a day. It's a life long journey, and sure life has it's up and downs, and if you have a down day, go to bed with the thought process of making the next day an Up day.

Well that's my 2 cents for what it's worth.

Oh and congrats on losing what you have so far

The sooner you are able to kill your sweet tooth and not cave in to it the better you'll do in the long term. When I have a bad day I make sure I DO my exercising, that makes me want to keep going and make the next day even better. Make sure you're eating the proper foods and get rid of the stuff you shouldn't be eating...if it's not close at hand it's hard to eat!

            Good luck to you.

Re: going kind of strong, need motivation =(

I went to a wedding reception last week and had two very minor cheats at the buffet line. One samosa (a fried potato dumpling) and about 3oz of kheer (indian rice pudding with nuts). Well, that ended my losing streak and I was up like 1.5 pounds the next day. My philosophy was that I had to make up for it so I immediately doubled my exercise regimen, riding the stationary bike for 30-40 minutes morning AND night. I still didn't lose the added pound for several days, but now I'm a pound below where I was at the wedding reception and find that I'm able to keep up the new exercise regimen as I get into better shape. I know I'm in for a big losing streak coming up...

So, my advice is to turn your mistake into something positive. Use it as an added motivation to exercise and stay on plan. Believe me if I can do it, you can do it!

Re: going kind of strong, need motivation =(

I have had 1 slip up during my journey (3/4 of a pizza with crust) and the next day I felt terrible (stomach cramping, diarrhea, etc) That was my first and last slip up. I also gained 2 lbs (water weight I know). The next day I started my day with some herbal tea and planned what I was going to eat that day. I wouldn't beat yourself up for cheating but remember it will go a lot faster if you don't.

Good luck on your journey and just remember you are not alone, when temptation strikes come here, there is always someone here who is willing to help.

I thought of one other thing I do. I take a bite. I will have a bite of dessert, or snag one french fry. This helps me in two ways. First, I don't feel completely deprived, and second, I am reminded that these things usually don't taste as good as I expect them to.

I'm glad that works for you, but for me it is the kiss of death. I can't try one bite.

I am so with you on the "kiss of death" For many of us carbs are addictive things and just having one bite would mean eating the whole pot. I know it would mean that for me on several food items. So please do not encourage anybody to fail.

I am certainly not encouraging anyone to fail. I don't think that's completely fair. For me, it gets rid of this ideal food in my head. I've tasted it, I know it's not as good as I expected it to be, and I'm done. Maybe this doesn't work for everyone, but it works for me. It might work for someone else. I was trying to help.

                          Casey B,

In your reply you say you mix up some cream, splenda and coca. Is this like a chocolate milkshake, sounds amazing!!!

What type of cream do you use, how many carbs would you say are in each one - do you use some water to thin it out?

London, I also read that the other day and said to myself, "Self! That sounds yummy." Now i wish I had never read it, LOL. It IS yummy ... maybe too yummy.

It is basically chocolate whipped cream. I had a 1/2 cup of cream, 2 Splenda packets and 1 tsp of cocoa...fitday said that's about 6.1 carbs. (a little rich for me since I am on extended indution)

Remember there a limits on cream on induction. 2-3 tbs I think.
And totally only 3 sweeteners a day.
