  • Weight Gain during Fasting? Help please

    Hello everyone, i hope im posting this in the right section...
    anyhoo, i am fasting for one month sunrise to sunset because of religious stuff. I havent cheated during this time, i open my fast with water and i usually eat:

    One omlette, boiled mince meat & a little cream as a dessert.
    i drink a lot of water too.

    but i dont seem to be losing if anything ..ive gained it would seem 2lb.
    I do have a horrible habit of weighing myself everyday or every other day. That 2lb weight gain hasn't budged for the last 3 days. Is this normal because im eating less calories or something? and will it pass soon

      Where are the veggies?



      Mini goal #1 - 196 - 10% of the old me gone Met 6/30/09!!!
      Mini goal #2 - 185 - BMI - no longer obese Met 12/23/09!!!
      Mini goal #3 - 174 - 20% of the old me gone
      Mini goal #4 - 154 - BMI no longer overweight

        ye i know its not much but i feel really bloated after a little bit and so much water.

        EvansMom: ye ive been slacking on the veggies this past week-maybe a handful of greens now and then. If i step up the veggies should that help the weightloss?

          You should try to eat more. Do you have to drink that much water? Veggies help many people because they add nutrition and the body gets happier and is willing the let go of some fat.

            ok so ill stop at 2l water and make up the rest with food and veg, weight gain is such a demotivator and i really dont wanna go off track if this is just a hitch and will pass soon-thnx for you replies everyone

                I seen on your previous post that you were only averaging before Ramadan about or less than 1000 calories a day... your body maybe going into starvation mode. Now you said one omlette (how many eggs is in this?, mince meat ( I assume is ground beef or is it a processed meat from a can?), How much cream? Are you trying to do extended introduction?

                As for weight, b/c of fasting, your weight can fluctuate more then 5-7 lbs a day... I know mine does. So to be accurate, you would have to have drank the same amount of water at the same time the day before and allowed the same amount of time to have passed or yes, the scale will be up. For example, before iftar I'm at 342... after iftar I can be as high as 349... the next morning before suhor I can be at 345! In general I have lost 4lbs since Ramadan...

                Here is an example of my menu:
                Iftar (breaking fast) with 12-20 oz of water... then I preceed to eat: Last night was a zuccinni and ground meat w/onion dish.. with a little parmasan cheese, with 1.5 cup of cucumbers diced and 2 TBLSP of Full fat ranch dressing.. .with more water about another 10-15oz... a little later I had the "cloud" puffs from Linda's site.. I only had 2 of them. Had some more water before going to sleep.

                Suhor (before fasting) I had another 24-30 oz of water, had a serving of the left over zuccinni and ground meat dish and 1 Tablespoon of cream cheese...

                Now I do feel weak so far, My stomach is also upset and I seem to go to the bathroom for "#2" after eating either meal. Mostly I seem to do better when I have smaller amounts of protein and more veggies. That is just what seems to be for now.

                  Thanx so much, this really really helped. KNowing you lose 4 pounds got me feeling positive again. Ye im gonna eat more veg and food in general. TY! and its 2 eggs in that omlette. Im not gonna weigh myself til the weeks over too.tc
