  • Mrs. Peanut and I

When I eat peanuts and peanut butter, a very strange thing happens. They are not a trigger food for me, but they give me...... a stuffed nose. Not the kind of stuffed nose that you blow and you're done with it, but the annoying kind that you can't do anything about, other than be patient. It took me forever to figure out that peanuts are the problem. I knew it was possible to find an allergy to some foods, but a stuffed nose was on top of my cold symptoms list, not on top of my food intolerance/allergy symptoms list.

So I'm going to give my food journal a big hug and kick Mrs. Peanut (and her husband, Mr. Peanut Butter) out of the house.

Poor you, Georgiana! I'm sorry you've found an allergy to such a delicious food. My DD25 recently had some allergy tests and was surprised that she reacted to peanuts. She doesn't eat them a lot, but one day recently she unthinkingly ate some peanut butter. Her nose started getting drippy and stuffy. It was the first time she'd ever connected those two things.

My nose runs when I eat lots of stuff. Chinese buffets being a major killer. I think its wheat or corn starch. Ramin does it too, potatoes. So usually if I cheat on this diet, I can't breath. lol After awhile I can handle small doses okay. Or maybe I just get use to it because its not overly bad? Grain allergies are really common in my family, my sister has the peanut one too.

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

      1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
      2nd mini goal: 140!
      3rd mini goal:135!
      4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

When I eat something with grain/gluten hidden in it, I get a sore, scratchy throat and stuffy nose and itchy eyes & ears. Feels exactly like I am coming down with a cold, but I'm not. It's taken a couple of years of matching symptoms and foods to come to this conclusion.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

The nuts that I am allergic to macademia and hazelnuts give me this throat constriction feeling. Other things that I am allergic to like bloodworms give me severe rashes and swelling (No I do not eat them - my fish do but I cannot smell or touch them)

Glad you figured it out G.

Love that graphic EmDee. I have control issues when it comes to peanuts. So I really need to adopt that one.
