  • Medications affecting weight loss

First I need to thank everyone for sharing there knowledge. I have learned So much From this website, I have two questions, 1) Do certain medications slow down weight loss? I take something for cholestirol, blood pressure, paxil, and vicoden for back pain. #2) I want to try the atkins day break bars but the label read's 2 net carb's, But if I minus 8 gram's of fiber from the 14 gram's of carb's I get a totel of 6 gram's of net carb's.I'm confused .Thank you.

The bars and shakes aren't allowed on induction because of the non-induction ingredients in them. The Atkins company is in the business of making money - not making us healthy. They are trying to keep up with the Slim-Fast and other companies who mass market to consumers. Once you get up in the higher rungs you can use them in emergency but I'll tell you from experience (before I started Atkins) they don't taste good!

I take diabetes medicine that makes it tougher to loose weight - I honesly don't know about the meds you are taking. I'm sure Georgiana or someone else can help with that question.

Yes... some medications slow down weight loss, but it seems like you're doing very well! Congrats on the 30 lbs lost! You'll probably find that you're able to reduce some of your meds the longer you are on Atkins... the BP meds almost certainly.

I'd move to OWL if I were you. You have another 30 lbs to lose and you can learn how your body reacts to new foods as you go. It's good to give yourself plenty of time for this, and taking OWL calmly is a key to successful maintenance.
Don't be afraid of OWL... you still get to lose weight, and on the early rungs, some lose even faster!
