    How about this remark, "Is that the type of diet that when you go off it and start eating normal again, you start gaining weight again?". UH, so what is normal?
    For me it was stuffing myself with junk all day. Bread, sweets, anything with lots of carbs and sugar, the more the better. So yeah, if you go back to eating the way you did when you gained the weight, YES, you will gain the weight back!!!
    Why do people always say that. What they should say is , "Is that the type of diet that when you go off it and start eating like you did before, you start gaining weight again?" DUH! YES!

      The family meets at my Mom's every Sunday and we usually order out for dinner so no one has to cook, unless we are celebrating a birthday, etc. and then we all bring a home cooked dish. Today they ordered pizza. I brought my own food from home. I brought celery and induction friendly dip for all, and a good size salad and some nice chicken for my meal. My brother in law looked at me with a sad look on his face as I was stuffing myself and said, "Can't you have just a little pizza?" He felt so sorry for me not able to eat any pizza. I tried to explain to him how I was really enjoying my great salad and chicken and I was really full, and that I really did not miss or crave the pizza, even though it really looked great! But he just didn't get it. And still look at me with this sad look. Let me also say, my niece and her boyfriend preferred my celery and Atkins dip over the potato chips and store bought dip that was sitting on the table.

        Looking forward to the day when someone (ANYone) thinks 'the weight I am at now is the perfect weight for me," LOLOL!

        Congrats for being so close to your goal weight that such statements even occur - but don't let those folks distract you from getting to where you need to go!

          I have to agree with "sugarfreeone." People say the same sorts of things to me and even more so when they find out its the "Atkins Diet."
          Anytime someone asks me how to get started on Atkins I ALWAYS tell them that the people who are the closest to you, Those that you love the most and love you will be the biggest discouragers against your trying to get healthy. I tell them its best not to tell family and friends what you are doing UNLESS the reason they are asking is to learn how to achieve the same results.

          It seems to be an unwritten law somewhere that family and friends feel they must say those things. They are not even sure why the words come out of their mouths, but it always happens. They mean well, but just tune them out. I have learned to say, "yeah, you're probably right!" and just continue on my way.
