  • Weight loss results while on antidepressants...?

    :wave

I have gained 15 pounds in the last 18 months due to being on Lexapro.
Other antidepressants I have taken in the past have resulted in weight gain. Has anyone had good results using the Atkins diet while they were on antidepressants? I need to hear some positive remarks!

    Hello Pie4me :wave
    Welcome to ha
I do not know anything about antidepressants/Atkins but I know that we have a forum dealing with Depression and Atkins living.
Here is a link to it

Hopefully someone there will have some experience of this problem :hug

I do personally know of two people on Atkins that are currently taking anti-depressants and they are having success with their weight loss. I am not sure of the exact names of the medications but I know that 1 was causing this person to gain weight before going on this WOE.

I have been taking Effexor XR since December and have lost about 5 pounds!! It definitely supresses the appetite. Seems to have really given me my life back too ... I take 75 mg a day.

        Give it a try!

          welcome to the board

as Elziellen said we do have a forum on depression if you'd like to explore it and we do have many folk doing great while taking their meds. We also have some that as losing slowly but the healthbenefits of their Atkins eating arre keeping them going as they slowly get smaller.

it will depend on your metabolism your willingness to work hard on your Atkins and your actual meds that will determine how successful you will be. But I do know you will never know if Atkins will work with your meds for you unless you try. Induction is only 14 days of your life so give it a try and see what you lose.

          Happy low carbing.
