  • why does cheese stall?

why did atkins limit cheese intake in induction ? if we arent counting calories why would overeating on this be an issue?

why do so many people who dont have a candida issue stall on cheese?

Overeating on anything is an issue. As Dr. Atkins warns in DANDR, this diet is not a license to gorge and, while we are not counting calories, calories are still important and overeating will stall or slow down one's weight loss.

Cheese does have carbs and milk sugars. You need to limit those. Cheese also causes constipation in many people so eating a lot of cheese is not always great. Enjoy the bit you can have.

So as a general rule, how many ounces of cheese per day is safe? I try to limit mine as much as I can, but I'd like to know.

During Induction, cheese is limited to 3-4 oz per day. How much you can eat depends on how your body handles cheese. If someone has Candida, they can eat no cheese. But there are also people who can eat 5 oz per day without stalling (in OWL Rung 2).

I guess I wondered the same thing about cheese, because it is made from cream in some cases. While other things are "free" in their amounts, cheese was limited. I think the question may have been answered by Liv, I didn't realize it had milk sugars...that makes sense...thanks

I have only lost 25 lbs in 70 days on induction. I am wondering if cheese is my nemesis? Its a quick food to grab. Otherwise, all I eat is lean meats and salads. Im a bit discouraged.

Cheese is limited to 3-4 oz per day. Are you eating more?

Please post a complete menu, including quantities. Then we can see if there is anything that needs to be tweaked.

25 lbs is almost 40% of the weight you needed to lose when you started. That is a lot of weight lost! But since you have less than 50 lbs left to lose, my advice is that you move to OWL and add back foods. Often, the addition of micronutrients will help the metabolism run more efficiently.

In Germany, it's anywhere between 20 and 30 g per slice. I am talking about slices of cheese like Gouda, Swiss, etc. Cheese food sold as American cheese slices should be avoided, imo.
