    Hi
Can anyone help please, feel like jacking in the Atkins, story so far!
Induction week 1 - lost 5 IBs, whoopie!
Week 2 - had some wine and gained a 1 IB not - not brill but accept shouldn't drink alcohol.
Week 3 - stayed on induction, no alcohol, on day 4 had lost 2 IB on day 5 had gained 4 IB, why! what's happening, are my scales broke?

Also on the atkins can you never, ever have alcohol

I don't know about the NEVER NEVER have alcohol. I believe when you move forward through the stages of Atkins you can add moderate amounts of alcohol (someone more knowledgable can reply on that one).

My first couple of weeks I had the same experience with going up a couple of pounds then losing again. It made me crazy. I continued to hone what I was doing (i.e. hidden carbs) and now have had a modest but continual/steady weight loss.

Good luck- it sounds like you're doing great!

Weight fluctuations from day to day are normal. You don't gain 4 lbs (did you mean pounds? I'm not sure what IB is... ) overnight. What happens is that you are retaining some water, and that will show on the scale the next day as extra pounds. But it's mostly/all water weight, not fat weight. If the number on the scale bothers you, it's better to weigh only once a week or so.

Alcohol is allowed from the Alcohol Rung (OWL Rung 5) on.

Want to share a typical menu with quantities and everything included (drinks too) as well as telling us how much you have to lose. That way we may be able to give some pointers.

            Hi thanks for posting
From what you are including on your list I have the following thoughts:
Your breakfast could be better. It does not look substantial. The pepperoni may have sugar in it (dextrose perhaps) Try to find something less processed to eat once in a while.

Lunch - I don't see the added fat. Is the cumberland sausage free of any fillers or sugars (read ingredients)

            Dinner
Again I don't see the fat.
How much vegetables in total? Are they from the allowed lists?
Are you drinking enough water (and that means plenty)

            Anything added to the tea?

I thought your menu was pretty good though.

              Re: Help gained weight

Are you a UK member? If so I would hazard a guess that the cumberland sausage probably has some sort of starch in it - breadcrumbs/rusk/wheat flour etc - as most British bangers are not just made from meat and spices

Was the packet of pork scratchings (pork rinds in USA) a big one or a small one? They do have a lot of salt in them so you might find you are retaining water from the excess sodium you might be eating
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
