  • Salad Dressing (High Fructose Corn Syrup)

Ok so I just realized that the Caesar dressing I have been using has high fructose corn syrup in it. It has 2 carbs for every two TSP serving and is listed as having no grams of sugar.

Should I cut it out? This is the only "sugar" i consume daily except for 1 packet of splenda.

I have lost 3.5 lbs in 6 days of Phase I.

Thanks in advance for the help! You guys are making this A LOT easier for me!

You couldn't pay me to eat high fructose corn syrup after reading up on what it does inside your body.

Throw this bottle out and when you go to the store next time read the label until you find something you like that doesn't have it. Some people prefer oil and vinegar --- watch out for balsamic vinegar -- it's made with sugars here in the US, many people use Hidden Valley Ranch without problems.

Your label is why we always tell people to read all the ingredients and take your acceptable food list with you to the grocery store. Good luck!

I think sugar-free Ceasar dressing is fairly easy to find. Ignore the "sugar" listing on the nutrition label - go by the ingredients.

Checking the ingredient list on everything you buy will become a habit over time.

Yeah I always checked them but I never looked at the INGREDIENTS!

So NO sugar or "ose" in anything, ever, right? (For Intro)

No honey, no corn syrup, no cane (evaporated cane juice is a "new" word for sugar on labels)...no sugar, no "ose"s...there's a ton of them. Also, while you are checking the ingredients, no grains or anything else that isn't on the acceptable food list.

I'd love to know what you read. I don't think that HFCS is any worse for you than sugar. It's biggest sin is that it's cheap, so it's thrown into a lot of things as filler.

Those are off the top of my head.

As to whether HFCS is worse than sucrose (table sugar), I don't believe anybody has shown that with scientific proof, but I'm convinced that it has an addictive quality that sucrose lacks. I don't think it is any coincidence that sugar consumption increased dramatically with the introduction of HFCS-55.

Try Walden's salad dressings; I especially like the creamy bacon and you can get it at Sprouts or at any health food store.

Tried the Marie's Blue Cheese tonight - exceptional!
