  • Slow/fast? Weight loss

    Hi Everyone,

I have been following the atkins diet now for two months and have lost 10lbs. I have about 30 more lbs to go before I am at my goal. What I am wondering is, would you consider this a slow weight loss pace for the atkin's diet? When I did the atkins diet years ago I lost at a much quicker pace, maybe 25lbs in three months? Anyway, yes I did gain it back and I realize slower weight loss may help me maintain better but I just wanted a gauge as to whether this is slow or not. Really whether it is or isnt, Im not quitting, but I may bump up my exercise.

Thanks again for your input. I have only just lurked but this has been a really great board!

I don't know if that is fast or slow (I have a heck of a lot more than 40lbs to lose and I understand it is slower near the end). If you'd like, you could post your menu, including quantities, and we'll review it for you to see if improvements can be made.

Your profile says 14-day induction, but you say that you've been on Atkins for 2 months...so are you in extended induction then? Your stats such as age, current weight, height, sex, etc would also be helpful in answering your question.

I average a loss of 3 to 5 pounds a month, so you are probably right on track. I had a three month plateau, then started exercising and am losing again. Look at this as a lifestyle change and not a diet, and you will do great!

10 lbs in two months is a little bit on the slow side... how much did you lose in the two week induction? That will tell us how much you have lost in the past 8 weeks...

Weird how it works.I lost from 257 to 228 fast/Slowed down to 210 then next 10 came off fast.Next 5 took six weeks. From 195 to 184 has been rapid.I feel the last 10 will come off very fast.Would have thought the last fat would come off sooo slow.Pleasant surprise.

well, according to one of the posts above I am on the "slow" weight loss....which I already knew - my weight comes off slower because of medications I take. Not everyone looses the same - so don't compare yourself with someone else - make sure you are doing the plan according to the book, eat the proper foods (read your labels - watch portions, etc).

If you are following the plan 100%, not cheating, drinking 64ounces of water (more is better) -- that's plain water, exercising and taking a multivitamin maybe this is what your body is going to do.

I can go for months and not loose any weight then overnight I'll loose 3 pounds - I haven't changed anything - that's my body and I've learned to live with this over the many months I've been on Atkins.

Post a few days worth of menus including amounts of each thing you eat here: Review My Menu - Atkins Diet Maybe you are eating something that is causing you trouble.

            Good luck.

Also if you stay on induction and don't move up i think it tends to b slower but i'm not an expert so see if anyone else agrees.
