  • low carb ready to eat products?

    Hi,

I was wondering if you guys have low carbs foods that you can barely live without.
As I live in Belgium, we don't have acces to almost any low carb products, except for atkins bars and I only use those in case of emergency (still better than a twix bar i reckon).
And even though I do like the clean atkins eating, sometimes it would be convenient to use something that is readymade.
I'm thinking salad dressing, or those da vinci syrups I've read about.
My boyfriend and I are leaving for the States on November 8th and will be spending three weeks in sunny Florida.
Last year we went to California and I ended up trying to fit half a grocery store worth of food in my suitcase. So this year I would like to get some low carb stuff that would make life a little faster and easier from time to time. Don't worry ,I prefer to keep my diet as clean as can be, but every now and again I just want to be lazy!
If you can think of any low carb goody that I should try, please also mention where you buy it, makes it easier to track it down.

    Thanks!!!!

p.s. I'm on extended induction, but would love to here about stuff for al phases.

Re: low carb ready to eat poducts?

I just went to a sugar free/ low carb store and I bought
Some liquid splenda and da vinci
    low sugar ketchup
    low carb barbeque sauce
    dream fields pasta

I don't care for the dressings as most of them (the Walden farm ones) are chemical concoctions. I can make my own easily

Don't know where you can find these though. I am far from Florida.

Florida? I think Belgium is in Europe

There isn't any product that I can't live without. I do have sugar-free BBQ sauce & ketchup (I don't think I've opened the ketchup yet, and I've had it a couple months...) I have some DaVinci syrups, but I hardly ever use them. I have never had an Atkins bar or Shake.

Is it now? When did this happen?
But she is going to Florida to shop

Just to add to the list if you cannot get stevia where you are that may be something to pick up for a sweetener.

There are several online places you can find things (like ketchup and other items listed above). Remember to only purchase items that are acceptable for where you are on he diet. Liv mentioned pasta in her post -- she has recently gone back down the rungs so even she can't have that food until later.

The Atkins bars are made with many ingredients that aren't allowed until higher in the Rungs so I'd stay away from them - find something else (like vegetables) that you can in "in emergency". Remember, you should be eating whole foods not chemically enhanced things from the store.

          Good luck to you.

I cant live without the sugar free catsup. You can make bbq sauce, cocktail sauce, salad dressing etc.

Re: low carb ready to eat poducts?

I really love 100% almond butter. On the labels it says Ingredients: almonds. I love it. I buy it at the U.S. Commissary in Belgium or Schinnen. Also, they sell them at Whole Foods when you go to Florida. The Whole Foods in Winter Park, FL has several types of nuts that you mash yourself. It is pretty cool. (Nut rung, of course)

Let me know if you need any FL tips. That is my home. Lucky you.

what the rungs mean to me:
              rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
              rung 4 - berries, melon
              rung 5 - wine -
              rung 6 - beans, hummus
              rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
              Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
              (on to pre-maintenance)
