    Re: weightlifting

The first month I couldn't do it, but now I do:

    Tues: chest/back 50 mins
    Thurs: bi/tri hour
    Sat: legs/shoulders hour

then aerobics on the other days, and take Monday off. Dropped 11 pant sizes with that crap so far.
    What I do:
Elliptical gym machine 1 hr Tue-Sun
At 320, switch to cycling on my Trek 500
    2 filtered containers water/day
    Daily salads/veggies

    Goals:

Stop needing High Blood Pressure meds - DONE!
    Workout in a XXXL shirt
    - DONE!
    Workout in a XXL shirt
    Workout in a XL shirt
    270 on the scales

      Re: weightlifting

I don't know about whether a weightlifter can achieve his/her previous weights while on Atkins induction but I don't see why they should not be able to do so as they follow the Atkins way of eating by working through the four phases.

One thing I do know - Weightlifting works well with Atkins!! Many people find that their body shape changes even if their weight does not if they include lifting weights in their exercise routine.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

        Re: weightlifting

It has been my experience that using body weight exercises rathar than lifting gets me strong without slowing wt loss.40 bucks for a good pull up bar has dome wonders for reshaping my body.3 sets of 10 reps of burpees will get you reved up and only takes 10 minutes. But that's just my opinion.

The first week was BRUTAL but now I'm into week 3 and though some days are better than others I haven't noticed any lack of strength.

            Re: weightlifting

its hard at the start cause the insulin receptors on your muscles are currently resistant from the unatural high carb diet you have been eating

but on atkins they become senseitive again like they always were ment to be but it can take a week i think to get reasonably senseitive and a month and a half to be fully good i think and by then you will be haveing perfect work outs

              Re: weightlifting

              Hi there,

Weighlifting is great on Atkins. I lift 3 - 4 times per week, I have lost 15kg/33lb in about 2 and a half months and my body definition is now
musular instead of gross blubber and I feel great at 44.

              Good Luck

                Re: weightlifting

In my opinion, there is no better way to get rid of body fat than Atkins. Since lowering one's body fat is the prime means of showing off all of the work one puts into strength training, one may deduce that weightlifting is great for Atkins.

Sorry, I'm still in GRE study mode. Simple answer: YES! Like peas & carrots.
