  • Binge help?

I decided to post this on here since i've noticed all of you are trully helpful to me, and some of you are really well body-wise-educated.

I have a hardcore issue with eating disorders, but off topic i can't stop binging like literally i can't and that brings me to purging. I know this is bad and terribly hard on the body, but it's an eating disorder and since i have no insurance or anything i'm not getting any medical help. My question is to other binge eaters or anybody actually, do you get dizzy while binging? I seriously feel like losing my mind, my heart starts to race and i get super super dizzy.
My binges consist of 7000-10,000 calories. Really.

Anyway as ALWAYS. I really really appreciate any support. Thank you!

      Re: Binge help?

i had a problem in the past with bingeing because my gut was horribley damaged and could not absorb food properly so i was always hungry its better now though

but what i found was to eat extra high fat like around 78% fat 20% protein 2% carbs that way i could eat tons of food and still lose weight

10% of fat can be converted to glucose
58% of protein can be converted to glocuse
carbs are all 100% i think and some do bad spikes and such which are much worse

try eating only the lowest carb foods that way you can eat alot of food and still be good with your diet

i could not eat any of the higher carb vegetables like spaghetti squash or even tomatos because id eat to much and not lose weight

        Re: Binge help?

Wow I could have written that Erick. I've done TOO well at binging and it's it in the recennt past pretty bad. I have those symptoms you described (other than the purge part). I would do Papa John's x-large pizza sometimes 3-4 times a week and wolf it down and get that heart race/sick thing going on just like you. I would get excited at work to pass Little Caesars where you could walk in and pick up a ready made pie so I could race home in a sweat to sit down at my table and eat it. Weird but true and very controlling...

When I started Atkins I was really focused on the "big" steak. Large portions as that's what I needed to satisfy myself. I wasn't really in induction until probably a week once my body agreed with what I was doing. Have a 20 ounce porterhouse for lunch and see how your body reacts!

Now I have no desire or interest in the binge thing. My appetite is under control and if anything that alone is an excellent reason for me to stay on Atkins.

It is a psychological thing and I'm sure there's help out there for it. I'm just stating my opinion as I really do relate.

        Best to you.
        Pete

              From one bulimic to another-

Listen, there are a few places you can go to start, but you're going to need to get some professional help if you can't get this managed on your own - and I couldn't.

You can start by heading to the library and doing some reading on the disorder and treatment techniques for the disorder. You can also contact Overeaters Anonymous and find out where they're meeting close to you. There are OA chapters that have bulimia specific meetings/focus. It's a place to start.

BTW- Therapy is cheaper than medical treatment of the things caused by purging, I'm here to tell you. You and your health are worth doing what it takes to get this manageable for you.

              Hang in there!

I don't know where to start, like maybe i wasn't expecting you guys to have any advice on how to stop my eating disorder because i know it's something a psychologist, doctors and whatevs need to do, but just knowing all of you took the time to read this means a LOT to me, i really really appreciate it and that's why i love this forum.
And i know this wasn't atkins related but all of you are such great people

Thank you so much for the advice and good wishes <3
