  • Ten things to Jumpstart BACK into Atkins

Ok - i've been on Atkins/ off/on/off TOO many times to count. The two things that i know is that it is the most effective way for me to lose weight and that i just LOVE the energy i get when i eat this way.

I made a list of basic things to get me and keep me on track - nothing new here - things many of us have known all along - but i thought i'd share them as i restart for the last time (please, please, please i just want to stick with this WOE for the full stretch).

I hope that you all will add any other relevant thoughts that come to mind and hopefully we can all benefit and boost our mental commitment to this WOE.

BEST of luck to all of us!

    Ten Jumpstart Thoughts
      • Weight loss is challenging! Being overweight is even more challenging!
      • Triumphing over my challenges builds integrity/ self reliance applicable to ALL other challenges in life. (This is a bonus).
      • The ENERGY I get from this WOE is at least as important to me as the weight loss that comes with it.
      • I prefer to be fit, healthy and full of life, than fat, gloomy and lethargic.
      • Giving up is not going to be an option for me. I’m in this for the long haul! For life!
      • Setbacks happen - but overcoming setbacks and moving on makes you a stronger and more responsible person -INSIDE.
      • Sooner or later a plateau will present itself – Stick with Atkins but Find ways to BURST OUT OF THAT PLATEAU:
    • v bump up the water, rework the exercise plan, examine my sleep patterns
v eliminate or limit the quantities of certain foods known for stalling that crept in or crept up along the way : dairy, red meat (?), salty food, nuts
      • Customize food choices/ activity within the WOE as needed. Balance out my WOE needs w/ that of my family, religious, social, professional commitments.
      • Exercise daily even if it’s just lifting canned foods (aka local hand weights) in the kitchen while preparing meals or other creative on the fly kind of exercises – KEEP MOVING!!!
      • Log on and post at least once a day to ADBB on days when I’m on the internet.

    Wonderful post.
Getting back takes a lot of comittment. I am estimating maybe 10 times more than starting the first time. I still do not know why. But I agree with you when we do it, we have to focus hard. So thanks for sharing your focus goals.

It really helps to me to come here and update my journal. When in trouble or when I start again and need to keep myself straight and narrow (and this happens) that is what I do. The community here is a wonderful support.

Yup. For me, re-starting is 10 times harder than when I started in March. I think it's because some of us (me included) have a tendency to view the safety of induction as a crutch because we know it's there, after today's gorge. Ironic, for sure.
