Thanks to my last post here where someone suggested me to read info about kimkins i noticed that it was basically what i was doing unconsiously.
I was eating low fat low carb and that's probably why i was losing so much weight, i ended up eating less than 800 cals per day.

Thank you not2late for pointing that out, thank you so much.

Sounds like you need to read the book or at least read the excerpts from the book here: - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html.

Whatever you decide (kimkins or Atkins or something else) to do - good luck.

From all that I have read about kimkins, I have nothing good to say about that plan...in fact, I think it could be dangerous.

But to comment on your low carb, low fat eating, I did that when I was on Medifast which is low carb (80-85g), low fat, low calorie 800-1000). However, Medifast was designed by medical people with licensed/certified people on board for consultation.

It was stressed how critical the role of fat played for gallbladder health and we were advised to eat specific amounts of fat with our one daily meal (amount dependent upon what type of protein you were eating).

That diet works for many people. I developed severe soy sensitivities because of all of the soy in the meal replacements and had to stop that plan. What I can tell you is that during the 6 or more months I was doing low calorie/low carb/low fat I was ALWAYS hungry. I did lose a lot of weight but each day was a miserable trial. And for me, it did not turn out to be a healthy option.

I'm not trying to plug these kind of diets at all but rather point out that they really do need medical supervision. Even then, gallbladder problems are very common. And it is lousy being hungry and weak all the time.

I am still concerned by all the fat in Atkins but this diet has given me quick weight loss, I am not hungry and I feel better than I've felt in years. Plus, the food I'm eating is delicious! So, I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt that Dr. A knows what he's talking about.

There are lots of bad diets out there and Kimkins is one of the more dangerous. Avoid it like the plague and slip back into the Atkins way. You won't regret it.

Dr. Atkins' knew what he was talking about. I'm agree with Carole & think you should read or reread Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution. Good luck!

Not only that, kimmer (AKA Heidi Diaz) has a class action lawsuit against her.....I'm not sure of the details, but it has something to do with fraud.

Re: Omg.. i think i ended up doing kimkins unconsiously.

Don't do Kimkins!!!! She's a fraud, a complete fraud and I know from personal experience! I did Kimkins plan for over a month and that was when I heard that the plan was on tv and that all these dieticians and doctors had researched it and said it could kill you. I watched the interviews and was AMAZED that someone could get away with tricking millions of people like this.

They had a tv team follow this Kimmers and she is OVERWEIGHT! She basically took a few ideas from a few diets, meshed them together and then made a big website about it, ended up in a couple women's magazines who used some of her employees as examples and got people suckered in. When I was on this diet I was ALWAYS hungry, but had to keep calories SOOOOO low (800-1000) AND workout. It was a recipe for disaster and I should have seen it. Chalk it up to diet desperation. She never consulted a single doctor or specialist, she never did any real research and she stuck the picture of some thin woman on her "product" as proof that if it can work for her it can work for you. ****, even her lawyer present at the interviews looked obviously uncomfortable in defending the diet and at the end looked like she was pretty shocked and dismayed by the allegations the doctors and prior dieters made.

Please, do NOT even THINK about CONSIDERING her diet. So many people have come out now and said that they got really, seriously ill from this.

I know I say off and on that I'm eating a lower-fat low-carb Atkins diet but thats only because if I have too much fat it bothers me a lot (digestive-wise) so I stick mainly with the lower fat protein sources. But I still eat a solid 1200-1400 calories a day. Anything less and I get worried.

Re: Omg.. i think i ended up doing kimkins unconsiously.

a couple years ago I heard about Kimkins -- bought a magazine with all the info about it and decided to pony up the amount to join the website.

what I found was no real help except that the only way to be successful would be to eat 500 or less calories a day -- that meant lots of s/f jello, 3 ounces of meat (preferably chicken) daily, fruits, vegetables, grains were not to be eaten.

I tried to get my money back but was told I had paid and there were no refunds. Past of the class action lawsuit is to get people's money back they paid to Heidi's site. She said she had lost all this weight with a plan she had come up with....there was no plan.

She's a sham. The whole Kimkins group was a sham. At least Atkins has a plan and scientific evidence to back it up.

                Good luck to you.

Ok, so I finally found the pictures of Heidi Diaz (Kimmers)...the woman who "lost" so much weight using the plan she created and sold to millions.

This is what she put on the website and put in all the magazines

They say a picture is worth a thousand words....can you say "fraud"??

Sorry that you all were a victim of kimkins. There was a time here on ADBB that whenever someone would ask us advice about eating low fat, low carb, low cal. When we would say it was dangerous, it would be reported to the kimkins crowd on other boards who would basically laugh at us for being ignorant about kimkins and how wonderful it was.

I pointed kimkins out to the OP because that was essentially what he was proposing in his other thread. And i thought it best if he read for himself what a low fat, low carb, low cal diet can do for his health (other than fraud charges and a class action law suit ).

On another women's weight loss BB I belong to, kimkins and other related words are banned by their filter so all you see are asterisks *******. I had never heard of her or that plan at all but became intrigued by something that was banned.

I did my research and now know a lot about that issue. I'm glad that ADBB lets us discuss it so others (like me) who didn't know can learn about it and why plans like that are not a healthy way to go.

I went back some times ago and read some of the stuff they Kimmer was recommending. It was awful. She had people eat things like egg white rapped in lettuce leaves and 300 cals a day. Amazing and scary how people can let other people talk them into doing things like this. All to just to lose weight. She scolded people every time they did not lose because her philosophy was as long as you have fat on your body it will come off. And if it isn't, you are not eating low enough calories and fat. People did develop metabolism problems and eating disorders.
And to think that all this time she was lying about her own weight and charging people for advice that she just made up on a whim.

We have ADBB members who are members of other low carb boards. And they had battles with kimmer about kimkins. So it wasn't like people weren't warned or made aware of how dangerous a low carb-low fat-low cal diet is. And like I said, it wasn't unheard of when we would post something here on ADBB that was disagreeable to kimkins, it would end up on other low carb boards for the kimkins followers to laugh at how stupid the staff at ADBB is. Perhaps this thread will be linked to other boards so the kimkin folks can have some more laughs about our ignorance. I hope it is because considering what they are facing, they need all the laughs they can get.

But when people are desparate to lose weight quickly, it's easy for them to rationalize "gee if I eat low carb like Atkins, and low fat like Ornish, and low cal like Weight Watchers, I'll lose weight faster than if I did Atkins or Ornish or Weight Watchers put together!" Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way....as kimkins proved.

Atkins, Ornish, Weight Watchers, Pritikin, DASH, etc. all work. But they work in different means. Atkins uses a high fat-low carb approach to lose weight. Ornish, Weight Watchers, Pritikin and DASH use a low fat, high carb approach. Yeah, you can lose weight eating low fat, low carb and low cal----just ask anyone in who survived the POW or concentration camps during World War II or ask the famine survivors in Africa. But it's not a healthy way to lose it.
