This stuff is sweetened with sucralose (Splenda) and ace-K, for those who might not deal well with ace-K. Both sweeteners are acceptable during Induction though.

You should watch though for how the dye's affect you. Those dye's are made from petrolium and can cause issues just like aspartame does - headaches for me. They are also linked to things like ADD, ADHD, seizures, etc.

So while it's fine for induction as far as the ingredient list goes - is it really fine for your body? Same goes with jell-o and pretty much anything else with food dye in them. So many things have products made with petrolium in them and it's so harmful to us. Even perfumes and scented dryer sheets have it.

Sorry - just had to mention that, although it's only sweetened with induction friendly sugar substitute, it could potentially cause adverse effects to your weight loss plans due to the other ingredients.

OK, so people are probably going to roll their eyes at this but try to wean yourself off of these types of drinks in favor of water. Yes, I know that probably sounds gross right now. But as time goes on, your body will thank you for it, you will feel better and you'll understand what all the water pushers are talking about.

In the meantime, remember that these are in addition to your minimum 64 oz. of water. That's really what made it easier for me to quit soft drinks...after all that water I really didn't want anything else.

Re: Powerade Zero Anyone try it

I have a small stock of all three flavors, purchased when I saw a really great sale on them. They are not standard fare here. I just keep them for when it gets really hot, the kind of hot that causes perspiration to flow when I am sitting still in my basement office.

I looked at all those ingredients and wasn't sure I wanted them flowing through my system on a regular basis. Still, on a hot/humid day, they seem to help me keep the fluid intake up.

I like all three flavors well enough but ... sorry, I just can't help it ... the blue looks like Windex to me. I really hesitated to even taste it for quite awhile.

Re: Powerade Zero Anyone try it

I drink some of that occasionally - not regularly, more like a treat here and there. And I find I like it just as well if I pour a little out of that quart bottle into a glass and then water it down as much as 50%. Still has a nice taste, and I'm not getting nearly as much weird ingredients as I would be if I were chugging it straight, plus one bottle lasts for days this way. I'm not a big fan of ingredients I don't recognize as a food item, so even though it may contain "allowable" ingredients per Atkins, they aren't on my personal list of allowable ingredients, so I don't allow myself too much, just a little for some variety.

I do find the empty quart sized bottles handy for carrying around plain water, though, and they fit in my dishwasher just fine, LOL!
