  • V8 drink LIGHT

How possible is taking v8 drink light daily or semi daily. It has carbs but nothing extreme.

    4 ozs has 6 carbs.

    Thoughts?

Depends what phase you're in (I see you're in Induction, so anything with ingredients that are not on the Acceptable Foods List for Induction is out).

In any case, Dr. Atkins told us not to get our veggies in the form of juices. Juicing removes the fiber, therefore increasing the impact carbs have on blood sugar.

      Thx soooo much.

I'm not sure where exactly I fit in the atkins world to be honest.
I'm at goal weight but absolutely love how simply my diet is.
Because I'm sooo lazy I only eat 3 different things usually.

I love not having to think about what to eat, its soo liberating.

      thanks.

You only eat three different things. Wow
We are completely different you and I. I want variety. But if it works for you that is fine. I would do the juice if I was past rung 8 and I knew I would not have a bloodsugar jump when having it.

The thing about the normal food diet that bugged me, is that I had to think about what to eat and I got so tired of having to plan food. I love the absolute simplicity of not having to think of what to make/eat. On a regular mainstream diet I would get cravings and I'd have to follow my stomach's orders on what to eat and when. I was constantly having to plan the next meal even while I was eating. It was like slavery to my stomach.

Its so simple on keto, and keto means there are no cravings at all so as long as I keep meals coming there is nothing to think about.
Thats why I don't want to start rungs cause then I have to start thinking/ and planing food again....sounds like tooo much work to me.

              You eat three things?

You realise you cannot go through life eating three things, yes? Induction is a limited time food plan. Atkins never intended for people to never move beyond it.

On Induction you are getting virtually no fiber. You're getting no citrus, which you need for vitamins. You're getting terribly low amounts of... well, everything in the stuff you're not eating.

By all means, be lazy. That is fine. Make up a pick list of foods you like and that are simple across a variety of food groups. Get up to at least the fruit rung, and you could choose daily between an apple, an orange and a banana, for example.

              Fruit: Apple, orange or banana
Protein: Chicken breast, steak or salmon fillet.
              Vegetables: Broccoli, beans or cauliflower.
Snacks: Boiled eggs and cheese (for calcium)

I am not a nutritionist and I just made that up; you'd have to research to find a list that results in simple but nutritionally balanced choices.

Things you do not want: cancer, brittle bones, diverticulitis, heart disease, degrading vision, high cholesterol. This is the only body you get and it depends on you to provide the nutrition it needs to be able to support your health. Feed it properly.

I try to keep it as simple as possible... I take lazy to a whole new level.

1 is chicken breast cooked on foreman grill with some ultra-low BBQ sauce for flavor.
                2. is Beef Patty(s)on foreman grill with a slice of cheese and some condiments
                3. is eggs and bacon wrapped in a ultra low carb tortilla.
I'll take 1 of these 3 and eat it everyday till i get tired of it. Then switch it to something else.
I also try boiled eggs and then chop them up and use low ranch dressing at dipping sauce.
I try and get veges in here and there, I use a bag of mixed veges that I microwave for a min.
Once in a while a salad though rare.

I tried in the beginning to make a varied and mixed meal plan but its just too much work to have to think about it. So I just stick with the 3 at this point. Started this in April of this year and should be done hopefully at the end of this month, that's 6 months. I'm 174 now and need to get to 170. After that I'll go semi low carb or whatever. Though honestly I'm extremely happy with what I have going. Its not for everyone and thats fine. I'm the same way at work, I love monotony.

                  Please drink the V8.

If you are only eating veggies "here and there" you are not doing Atkins. I'm sure you know that, and that's fine - there are plenty of other ways to low carb.

However, nutritionally speaking, you are in desperate need of vegetables. So yes, V8 would be a good non-Atkins way to add veggies at the cost of few carbs. Embrace the monotony and drink up.

For someone doing Atkins and eating LC tortilla is okay to drink SF V8, because V8 is OWL Rung 8, while LC tortilla is OWL Rung 9. Of course, you would have to introduce V8 as any other new OWL Rung 8 food, i.e. eat it not more than three times a week, in 5 net carb amounts, and see how your body reacts to it.

Cooked veggies are good if you prefer that rather than salads. I don't know how much of these you are eating... a cup every day? Three? Six?

OWL, Pre-Maintenance and Maintenance are, I believe, what you would call "semi low carb", aren't they? I mean, if you will be introducing new foods and increasing your carb intake anyway, then why not do this in a controlled manner, such as one does on OWL? Varying your menu will be just as tough then as it is now, imo.

I would just change your signature to OWL 9 since you are having tortillas and be done with it...

I am like you, I have a very limited list of foods to choose from. I just think of food as fuel, I don't care about variety and it's a lot easier to just eat the same thing...

(eggs/butter/cheese) (coleslaw/mayo) (strawberry/yogurt smoothie) (foreman hamburger with cheese) (slice of ham) (slice of bologna) that's about it...

I'd like to jump up to rung 7 and have beans and apples etc... but don't think they would fill me up for very long... so for now I'm happy where I'm at...

You did a great job getting to goal... now comes the hard part... figuring out how to maintain... I'm sure you'll adjust by adding in a couple of things that will keep your weight steady...

Oh, I am like you. Earlier today I was getting my salad stuff out of the fridge and for a second thought "meh, salad again". Then thought "its just fuel". Don't get me wrong, I like salad..well, what I really like is the blue cheese dressing. That will motivate me to eat salad somedays. Anyhoo..beyond that, my diet is rather boring but I find it easier this way.

I found that as long as I eat regularly before I'm hungry...that I don't mind if I eat basically the same menu for a while at a time. I was simply refueling...whatever that fuel is was beside the point.

That is what is so liberating about keto is the freedom from cravings and hunger. I've said that before and I'll always praise that aspect of keto. My body just runs better on keto. I see this as a life change for sure. Can't thank you guys enough I feel bad for people that are overweight..and can't mentally grasp keto...I try to casually tell them but you can see the fear in their eyes...its sad really.

As for me, I'll have to re-learn how to eat a general lowcarb diet instead of what I have been since I've accomplished what I set out to do so far.

i also eat but not everyday other vegetables and whey protein powder , fish and other types of cheese and raspberries or blue berries

I'm like Liv. I prefer having variety in my meals. Even if I eat the same food, e.g. salmon, two days in a row, I usually try to cook/prepare it differently every time. But then I also like "playing" in the kitchen, so I enjoy the time spent planning, shopping and preparing my meals.
