  • Cooking with white wine - Is it allowed on Rung 1

    Hey everyone!

I have never cooked with any wine since I've started Atkins...having said that...come to think of it I think I've only cooked once in my life with wine period! Anyway.....I'm just wondering if I am allowed to cook with white wine on rung 1? Someone posted an awesome recipe here and I was thinking about making it tonight. I wouldn't be eating any of the sauce it makes....apparently it's too bitter...it just bakes in the oven in the sauce and you remove the chicken and eat only that.

My understanding has always been that the alcohol burns off but then I wonder about the fact that the wine is made from grapes...which of course is fruit...so I'm at a bit of a loss here on what I should do.

    You're feedback would be appreciated!

    Thank you!
    Sarina

I don't know what time it is in Germany. Maybe she is asleep. I think she may sleep once in awhile.

So the answer is not allowed to cook with till you try it out on rung 5

Was this the lemon and garlic chicken? If it is, I posted the recipe made with Mock Wine, which you can use for any recipe that calls for wine:

Made it, was perfect. Whatever your dinner, good luck!

Bri, you're AWESOME!!!! Man alive....I TOTALLY missed the mock wine recipe....I was sitting here thinking to myself....I could use vinegar but decided not to cook it.

Thanks sooooo much for bringing this to my attention, I'm going to try to cook it tomorrow night...it looks amazing!

              Have a great night,

During induction I always substituted wine in cooking with watered down wine vinegar. Somehow it works better when watered down to like a very very dry wine taste (not much vinegar to water to get that taste) than it does to just add a small part of vinegar neat. Odd but true.
                      It's a good substitution.
