  • Long Distance Running

    Hi Gang!

I am just curious if anyone here is a long distance runner, and how being on atkins has affected your long runs. I am just started, but wondering how long distance (15-20 mile runs) would be approached while on atkins. Obviously Carb GU gels are OUT, lol

    Re: Long Distance Running

We have several distance running member regulars on ADBB, who tend to hang out in the exercise forums.
If you take a look at some of the discussions over there to see how they fuel themselves for marathons I think you will find some helpful suggestions.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

      Re: Long Distance Running

I know Betty (ttdriver) is a long distance runner. I haven't noticed her around the boards where I lurk but you might try messaging her to get some tips. I believe that it does take time for your body to adjust, but it will adjust and you dont get the energy highs and lows on low carb--you are more evenly fueled.
