Ouch! I know it hurts to see the scale do that. Did you eat the same or did you try something new? It may be the culprit. Post some menus for this week and we may be able to help you see what is going on.

It is porbably water weight or time to go number 2...but I am sure it will fall right back off.

Don't get discouraged...stay on plan and you will see more results.

Ray, not to worry...bodies do this from time to time. I know that mine gains water weight before it drops inches and fat, and yours could be the same way.

Also, you may have had a lot of sodium and its just water weight, or you could be getting close to your TOM and your body is gaining water weight...there are a number of factors. Don't let it bother you too much. (easier said than done)

Keep doing what you are doing and just give your body time to adjust.

Re: i was pretty shocked when....

I was weighing in daily and my weight would go up on the scales 5 lbs and then the next day down 7 for a total loss of two, so don't worry it happens!

Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09

50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09

Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

try weighing yourself only once a week- then you won't get discouraged.

You could try weighing yourself at the same time (if every day). I usually check every morning before breakfast.

Re: i was pretty shocked when....

I know a lot of people only weigh in once a week (or less) because not seeing a continual drop really depresses them or makes them lose motivation, but this is exactly the kind of reason that makes me WANT to weigh daily (and I do).

Yes, my weight bobbles around every day (plus 1 to 3, same, minus 1 to 3 are all very normal for me) so I just look for the general pattern - ie, more same or down days than up days. I don't take any individual one day too seriously unless it is something like 3 pounds or more gain, at which point I at least try to look at what I have eaten the last couple of days to see if I should adjust something (usually it was too much salty food the day before) or just wait another day or so for it to come back off. And so far, it always has, rather quickly (which is the same way it goes up - usually overnight).

But if I only weighed in once every week or so, and had maybe been losing most of the time but happened to weigh in on a "fat" day, I would be somewhat annoyed that I had eaten right all week and seemingly either gained a few pounds or not lost anything at all - not knowing that just a day or so before, I was several pounds lower, and it had been going down overall much more than this one day showed.

I would find that a lot more discouraging, personally. But everyone has to determine for themselves what works best for them.

And I realize I could be measuring inches also, and I do occasionally, but I don't really ever trust that I am measuring in the same spots as last time, etc. Over a longer period of time, I can tell my clothes get more loose - but it took probably 20 pounds for me to really be able to tell. I enjoy more frequent reassurance than that, LOL!
