  • CalorieCounter.com vs. FitDay

    Hi, all...

It seems like a lot of people here use FitDay, but I struggled with it. I had a hard time finding the right foods on there to log, and spent more time than I wanted to. Then my hubby told me about CalorieCounter.com -- something he learned from a personal trainer he had a year or so ago.

I love it! Much easier to use, IMHO. All the foods are on there, and I can see at a glance all of my numbers for the day.

I know FitDay does the same thing -- I'm just curious to know who else uses CalorieCounter.com, and if they have any tips or tricks with that site.

    Thanks!

    Re: CalorieCounter.com vs. FitDay

I'm not too crazy about the on-line carb counters. I only use them for checking carbs in recipes.

I prefer the old-fashioned way of writing down my foods in a notebook and looking up the carbs in a carb counter book or on the USDA website. With a notebook, I can organize by meal so I know exactly what I ate for lunch on November 2 , 2006. With the online counters, everything is mashed together. And no, I don't enter customized foods, because I don't consistently make my recipes the same way each and every time. Sometimes I might use turnips instead of cauliflower or green beans instead of asparagus. So customizing "chicken stirfry" would be useless for me.

But the main thing is to use a system that works for you. If fitday works, use it. If caloriecounter works, use it. If a notebook works, use it. As long as you have something to document what you ate and how many carbs you ate, it's more useful than guessing at it or relying on your memory.
