Someone sent me an email suggesting taking this product, Probiotic Pearls, especially with the scare of the flu season. Has anyone heard of this? Do you take it? Is it Atkins friendly? Is it something beneficial?

Re: Probiotic Pearls
I don't know what these would do for flu prevention at all. I'm surprised that Probiotic Pearls are being marketed as a probiotic as the ingredient in them is papain which is used in meat tenderizers (Adolph's Meat Tenderizer) and sometimes as a supplement to promote digestion.Originally posted by mission to lose View PostSomeone sent me an email suggesting taking this product, Probiotic Pearls, especially with the scare of the flu season. It seems to be a cheap imitation of the popular Acidophilus Pearls which are a probiotic containing lactobaccillus acidophilus and bifidobacterium longum (the active cultures found in yogurt). Acidophilus Pearls are also good for constipation, gas & bloating.
Both would be Atkins friendly. The Acidophilus Pearls are particularly beneficial when in Induction or OWL 1 as yogurt is not allowed in those stages of Atkins. They are taken like any other supplement (by mouth).
p.s. I've found WalMart to have the best price on Acidophilus Pearls and would recommend these over the other product.
