1600+ calories today and still hungry!

  • 1600+ calories today and still hungry!

    I have had 5 meals and 1600 calories and am still hungry. I just finished my 14 day induction and am stalled at 195 pounds. (down about 12)

    I have decided that I want to go up a level to rung 1 and add a bit of carbs such as spinach for my egg, celery and cucumbers to munch on in the afternoon.

    I understand that we can eat all the meat/protein that we want but I have a tendency to binge ...even on meat. Plus I know if I go up anymore on calories then my weight will be stalled. I have already had 25 grams of carbohydrates today.

    So any ideas about what I can eat.

    Mini goal #1 - less than 200 lbs - Acheived 9/21
    Mini goal #2 - <190 lbs- Acheived 2/26/10
    Mini goal#3- <180lbs-

    I try to have something filling with under 100 calories... a slice of bologna, a slice of cheese, etc... Some days you are going to go over your calorie count, other days you will be under... I find that on the days I am super hungry, I usually lose the next morning...

      I normally take a slice of deli meat (roast beef normally) and put a small amount of cream cheese on it then roll it up -- the fat in the cream cheese keeps me full longer than not having a fat with the protein I'm eating -- it doesn't take much - maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 ounce.

        I do the same. It works wonders.

          You might be stalled if 1600 calories isn't enough for you.

          It's not enough if you use the "rule of thumb" about eating 10-12 times your current body weight.

          If you don't eat enough (carbs or calories), your body won't lose.

          And make sure you're drinking all your water!

            According to the book, we really can't eat all the protein we want. Excess protein will eventually be converted to sugar. Dr. A recommends eating until we're satisfied, not stuffed.

            Are you hitting the 65% fats, 30% protein, 5% carb levels? IMO, these are more important than a calorie count.

              i have the exact same problem.
              i binge on meat, and it stalls me
              im trying to reduce my meat intake and increase my vegetable intake. i think that should work. try that.

                One thing I've noticed sometimes when I'm hungry is that some food triggered it. I can often identify which one. A few don't always do it consistently either. My common ones are coffee, cheese and unknown fillers in sauces (like when I eat out).

                This is why I'm a big advocate of tracking your food.

                I do also have days when I do eat more calories (ex. Monday was 1800, but yesterday was about 1100) but I wasn't hungry on either day, it's just how it ended up and my ratios were still good.

                Also, it's not uncommon to stall right after induction. Just keep doing the right things and it will pass.
