  • Xylitol?

I'm wondering what you think about xylitol instead of splenda in coffee? I need some way to sweeten up my coffee a little in the morning. Is it better?

    Thanks!

I know xylitol is toxic to dogs. I bought some but have not tried it yet. I think, because it is a sugar alcohol, you should not use a lot of it because of laxative type effects.

Xylitol causes me to become sick...as does Maltitol and Sorbitol...MAJOR digestive problems and stomach pains, but I don't think that happens to everyone.

Your best bet is to starve your sweet tooth. I use to start every morning with sugar and coffee mate - then I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, so I changed to Equal and coffee mate -- then I started Atkins and used Splenda and cream.....last week I started starving my sweet tooth - wish I would have done it much sooner when everyone told me to...I have 1 cup in the morning (decaf - not regular coffee) with 1 Tbsp of cream - and another cup before dinner fixed the same way. The rest of the day I drink pure water (nothing added).

Many people use different things and say "it doesn't bother my weight loss" -- if they are using Sweetners how do they know if it effected their weight loss or not? The choice is yours.
