You should be drinking a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water daily - that will help keep everything flowing through your system. If you need additional help, take a tablespoon of flaxseed or psyllium husk daily. Make sure to drink plenty of water because if you don’t it can leave you feeling bloated and heavy and you’ll have more problems going to the bathroom. I find 1 dose of flax usually gets me going and I don't have to take any more for quite awhile. I make a cookie out of the flaxmeal.
Make sure you are eating some vegetables on the list that have more fiber than plain lettuce -- pumpkin is a good one. Take 1 cup canned pumpkin, add 1 Tbsp cream, pumpkin pie spices (I use cinnamon, ginger & ground cloves) and a packet of splenda. Microwave until hot and eat. That always helps me!!
Spaghetti squash is another veggie that is high fiber and may help you go.
Like I said above, if you take the flax or husk make sure you drink EXTRA water - if not you may become bound up and feeling worse than you are now.
thanks hun, i do drink plenty, pumpkins arnt really popular here in the uk but will shop tomorrow for the flaxseed, thank you again kind rgards maggie,
Hi,
I'm having the same problem too, and I'm drinking a ton of water- at least 90 oz a day. I have tried Metamucil- says to have 1 teaspoon instead of tablespoon but nothing yet.
I'm going to try the pumpkin idea, thanks Carol. But where do you find flaxseed?

I found tins of Libby's 100% pure pumpkin at Waitrose - you do need to check you are buying pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling as the tins look very similar
I buy large bags of golden linseed (flax seed in USA) from my local independant health food shop as I found it much cheaper there than the large cains like Holland and Barratt. I order it in 5 kgs bags and it works out the same sort of price for the whole bag as for half the quantity of the smaller 500 g packs usually sold.
It seems to keep a long time in a cool dark place in a big tupperware box. I grind a small pot of it into 'meal' using my coffee grinder as once ground up it will go off fairly quickly I read.
