  • Do I need to eat all 20 net carbs?

    Hi, I have a quick question for the community.

    Must I eat the 20 net carbs a day while on induction or can I get away with < 10 net carbs. And what if I ate 0 net carbs one of the days during induction does it hinder ketosis in anyway?

    I have been eating salad with dinner each night but I was wondering if I were to eliminate salad a couple nights a week will that improve weight loss even further?

    You do not have to eat exactly 20 net carbs per day. But you should be eating 2-3 cups of the acceptable salad veggies. If you only eat 2 cups of the salad veggies then you can eat 1 cup off of the other allowable veggies list. Most of the carbs that you eat each day should come from your veggies.

    Eliminating the veggies can actually impead your weight loss. Many people on this site have found that they must eat the 3 cups to lose weight, others even find that their weight loss increases when they move on to OWL rung 1 and consumeeven more veggies.

    The only people who should eliminate veggies are those that have an extremely high metabolic resistance...those people would need to do a fat fast (which can be dangerous if you do not have a high metabolic resistance).

    If you are not losing at the pace that you expect keep a journal of everything that goes in your mouth (food, drink, gum, EVERYTHING) and post it in the review my menu area...sometimes we don't realize exactly what we are eating until we do that.

    You can also up your exercise and drink more water.

      Other than what Carrie said, you should also spread your veggies throughout the day instead of eating them all at dinner. This will help you avoid blood sugar spikes.

      And choose nutritious vegetables, not 3 cups of lettuce. Your body requires an appropriate intake of micronutrients to produce the chemicals needed to keep the metabolism running efficiently.

        You should read the book -- alot of these questions are answered there. It's cheap.
