  • New goal pants!

My size eight pants were really small. They were goal pants but someone said they were not a real size eight. I went to Walmart and bought a pair of eights that fit, then they went and loosened up. So I hit the thrift store and picked up a 6. I can zip them but in those things I even hang over the back! But if they actually fit me, there couldn't be much fat left. I think these are the last pair of goal pants I'll be buying. It looks so impossible to me to get to the size those pants will fit me. I haven't worn a six since I was about 12. I haven't been loosing weight, but I am walking around in size 8 pants at about 149 pounds. So something is going on, I don't know if its my skin tighting up or what. I'm even wondered if the clothing sizes are messed up because I always wore size 10's at 145 pounds before. Are my 8's really 10's? I tried on a couple of pairs of eights, one out of three was kinda tight but seeing as how these loosened up maybe they would work after a bit? 6's for goal pants seems too weird. I didn't expect to end up that size, but the belly roll insists it can and should be done. I'm going to take a long time getting into those pants, there is a lot of belly left.

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

    1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
    2nd mini goal: 140!
    3rd mini goal:135!
    4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

I am in a similar boat but with different sizes. I was wearing a size 12 during the summer and they started getting big. About a week ago, I went shopping and got a size 10. I swear I tried on every pair of jeans they had in the store. Some size 10's fit me, some didn't. I bought 2 pairs. Now that I have worn them...its the same thing as always...they fit my hips ok but are too big in the waist (they are low to mid rise), so I am constantly tugging at them..pulling them up. I wonder if I will ever be the "right" size or find something that fits me right. I keep thinking my hips need to catch up to my waist.

      Great shrinking, Rita!
You seem to be like many successful Atkineers in losing fat rather than weight!! Many lowcarbers post the astonishing fact that losing weight this way allows them to wear smaller sizes of clothes than they did previously at the same weight

Very good job.Nothing reinforces wt loss like changing clothes sizes.Don't underestimate going to uncharted sizes before you complete your wt loss.I never dreamed I would get to 34 pants but now they are too big.Wasted a little money buying too soon. Also glad to see you have a realistic goal of 130.I see so many folks who are heavy but set their goals at a still obese level. Our bodies quest to be lean. All we have to do is continue eating right. We'll hit it.You are an inspiration to many.

I have the same problem. I keep waiting for my hips to catch up with my waist but it just doesn't happen. My now-size 6 pants fit just as improperly as my size 28s used to. Once a pear shape, always a pear shape

Mine is different. Its the belly fat that is the last to go. I get pants and they are baggy in the butt. I mean I Never had that problem before. I think its my age. The 6's are tight everywhere including the calves, they are low or they'd never zip. Before I use to have to settle for the back of the pants gaping at the back because my behind was so big. Having lost a lot, my skin isn't as tight, so there is a little bulk there that has to go away. But I've had two kids so I'm not expecting miracles in the belly department. My butt looks better in the 6's, they are tight enough to prove I still have something left back there. My waist will always be sized two inches wider than the proportions for the clothing size. Low rise pants are my friends. To get a tighter waist, go for the higher waisted pants. They pull the waist in a few extra inches on those. Believe me I know, in those I'll end up sporting the dreaded muffin top!

I think that over the years there has not been a standard when it comes to making different size clothes. It actually feels like the clothing manufactures are making smaller number sizes to be bigger...like mind games for the growing waistline of America. I have some jeans that are tucked away that I bought before I had children (I had a habit of buying expensive new clothes then getting pregnant...LOL) that I don't think I will ever fit in again, but I also have a pair of jeans that say that they are the same EXACT size but fit me 27 pounds heavier.

Each manufacturer seems to pick a number out of a hat when they design clothes
