Very interesting article regarding a campaign in which one candidate has put out an ad essentially ridiculing the size of his opponent ("throwing his weight around"). It's an interesting (and not so subtle) reminder of the harsh reality of perception in our society when it comes to weight.

There's also a reference to the candidate having lost 50 lbs on Atkins.

P.S. Also, check out the "fat" used by the NY Times in the URL.

The same old same old, imo. I'm waiting for the day, someone will dig up his/her opponent's first grade classmate, put him on a stage and have him relate in detail that horrible day when he let the opponent use his crayons, but the opponent colored too hard and broke the blue crayon in half.

But if the candidate lost 50 pounds on any diet, good for him. Perhaps it will inspire more people to try to lose weight. All too often we see politicians looking like Hollywood celebrities--botox, tucked, lifted, etc.---than looking like real people you'd see walking down your street.
