Salami?

  • Salami?

    As a snack between meals I bought some hard salami. There are no sugars according to the package and no carbs aswell. It does have garlic powder though, which I've heard can be like hidden carbs. What are some of your thoughts on salami? I'm on induction, is it ok to eat as a snack?

    If all the ingredients are okay for Induction, then you can eat it. Garlic powder is a spice, hence "legal" during all phases of Atkins. The carbs are not zero though; everything below 0.5 g will be labeled 0.

    Make sure you checked the ingredients for all forms of sugar, not simply "sugar". Look for dextrose, dextrin, etc. And also check for starches.

        Ok, I see it has dextrose. Should I not eat anymore? Will it stop the weightloss?

          Here's my take on it ... any kind of lunch meat is very very very processed ... and we should limit processed meats and foods of every kind.

          I have salami on rare occasion (a few times a year) ... I don't make a regular habit of any lunch meat.

          As to whether or not it will stop the weightloss ... it probably won't, but you could most likely make a better choice for a snack.
