My goal is to get down to my GW and start getting back into bodybuilding. I WILL achieve a lean and muscular 195lbs.

Just wondering how many here have picked up serious bodybuilding and what sort of results have you seen while on the diet?

Thanks John! You taking any supplementation? I am planning on trying L-Glutamine along with my multi-vitamins.

Never been big on body building.Maybe because I had so much fat, muscles would be hid anyway.Dropping from nearly 260 to 180 has made a huge difference. My muscles are very visible.Even a budding six pack.Veins in my arms stand out like a bodybulider. My exercise consists of pullups. This keeps my upper body muscular and incorporating leg raises, my abds are firm. The key has been to elimiinate fat.We all have hidden muscles.Being 54 I was shocked at what I had and wasn't aware of it.Oh, I couldn't do a single pullup at my heaviest but they are easy now.Lot less time that lifting weights and I think I look pretty cut for an old dude. Not sure how tall you are but I achieved leanness around 23 BMI.I am just over 6 foot 1. goal is 22 and I will have visible veins on lower abdomen along with a natural six pack when I hit that in around 8-10 more lbs loss.

I don't body build but I lift three times a week (and not the Barbie weights) and I take L-Glutamine as a supplement as well. I do fine on this Way of Eating and my lifting, as long as I eat before and after.

Wow Phil! How awesome. Yes, I agree that pull-ups will do the trick. Unfortunately at my current weight I just hang and shake in agony LOL ... I'll be rocking some pull-ups with you soon!

Thanks Jill... I hear that L-Glutamine works wonders for recovery. I'm picking some up today.

                Re: Anyone bodybuilding?

My trainer had a load of supplements she recommended. I nixed most of them but actually introduced her to the L-glutamine. I like that there are no ill effects. And it reduces appetite in some folks too (although I can't say it has affected mine)

You may want to check out some of neutronnorman's posts. He does serious bodybuilding and has some great results to show for it. Also maybe check out the October Strength and Flexibility thread for ideas on what other board members are doing.

                    Pat,

I have been doing crossfit. I about wanted to kill my self when I started I was around 250 then. Now though I am 210 and the workouts are still very demanding, but I can at least make it through them.

You can go to crossfit.com and check it out. The website can be kind of confusing but if you play around with it for a while it is not as bad. There might even be an affialiate near you that you could go and try a workout.

                      Re: Anyone bodybuilding?

Thanks everyone... well i gotta say that i feel better in the gym than i ever remember. I think i have made it over the hump and now enjoying this new found energy.

Back in the days, when lifting, i used to do a "low-cab then carb spike" diet but i feel much better on the WOE. I picked up some L-Glutamine and L-Carnitine so I'm ready to kick it up a notch. I weigh myself tomorrow at the end of the first week of Induction and I'll report back. I may have even gained some muscle weight so i won't stress too much about what the scale says. Bottom line is that my clothes fit better and i feel healthier and optimistic.
