    Re: Adipex

    Hi Suzanne!

I should have taken the risks a little more seriously but at the time all I wanted was something to help me stop binge eating. Adipex was the very first diet pill I had ever taken in my life and for some reason thought that just because it was prescribed by a doctor, it was completely safe to take. There are risks to everything, including medication recommended by medical professionals.

You're absolutely right not to want to put anything in your body that may be harmful and I admire you for that. You decided not to take the easy way out like a lot of people. When I was on Atkins before I felt wonderful and after dropping over 60 pounds my confidence went through the roof. I want that again and truly believe I can do it with the support from this site =) I have a long road ahead of me, one that starts January 2nd and I pray that I have the strength to finish what I start.

I know for them it worked and improved their quality of life, in losing the weight both of them improved thier blood pressure and thier cholestrol dropped by 30 points a piece. Lets just hope they dont end up with the bad side affcects that affected so many people like phen phen and redux.

I think that's great it worked for them and they are healthier and happier now!

I really wish I was one of the few people it had worked for because it felt nice not being hungry and wanting to stuff everything in my mouth. Now I suffer from anxiety even worse than before and feel like I'm living in ****, all because of one little pill.

        Re: Adipex

I have a pretty underactive thyroid managed through synthroid and Atkins has been the only WOE that has ever worked for me, both in losing weight and controlling what I'm eating.

Weight loss is slow, but as long as I do it 100%, it works and I feel so much better.

As for binge eating, etc., I've found it very helpful to track EVERYTHING I eat in Fitday. It makes me accountable for everything I put into my mouth and also helps me see what effect some foods have on me. Example, certain foods cause cravings which may lead to binging. Other foods may be trigger foods that cause me to overeat. Avoiding these things or at least recognizing what they can do and plan to limit them helps me plan and keep on track. Not skipping meals, making sure you eat appropriate protein and fat at each meal helps control the appetite so you're less likely to cheat.

I still have a long road ahead of me too and wish you luck on yours!
        Start date: 2/22/04 347/222/135 ~ 5'2"
        STAC Restart: 1/05/09

        Goal #4: 210 - Still on track!
        Goal #5: 200/199 - 4th 10% - One-derland! End year goal!

Have you read the book recently? If not, I recommend you do.

I pray that I have the strength to finish what I start.
I hope you will reach your goal weight... but I also hope you will never "finish" Atkins.
