Been buying these little bags and eating for lunch. Not pork skins but the fatback with rind left on.Found in convenience stores for 1.99 a small bag.About 600 calories a bag but very filling.Loaded with salt, but I'm not concerned with sodium.Since I have been eating them, my weight has remained constant but waist is getting smaller.Dropped from 34 to 32 in last month.Anyway, I am seeing a lot of folks who aren't really dieting eating these cracklings. They are tough on the teeth though and sometimes you just have to suck on them.I have about maxed out my weight loss, but think I could have done it sooner if I had found these things several months ago.

    Re: Cracklings

Wish I could... I can't eat much salty foods like that at all or I gain several pounds immediately and LOOK swollen... I eat the regular pork rinds on a rare occasion, and if it is any more than a small handful, I can guarantee I lose nothing at all the next day or two no matter how good I am otherwise.

I can't seem to chug enough water to offset that salt, apparently.

A bag of pork rinds is not the best lunch option on Atkins, imo. And I hope everyone adds some vegetables to their meals, in particular to lunch and dinner. Spreading your veggies throughout the day will help you avoid blood sugar spikes.

          Not good.

In any case, my reply was intended to help those who are following Atkins, thus eating vegetables. I did not forget that you are eating none. Newbies, on the other hand, don't know this and could be misled by your post. No one should believe that Atkins is a no-vegetable diet. We've had this discussion before.

At 600 calories a bag, no wonder they're filling!

I always worry about those cracklings because the times I've bought a little bag, I couldn't eat it because they smelled rancid. That's the problem with fats.....they can turn rancid and when they do that they are typically more toxic than beneficial to your general health.

Not rude, Phil. I am simply pointing out the correct way to do Atkins, because not everyone browsing ADBB has read the book.
