If you expect to lose weight every day or week, you'd better get yourself a lot of anti-frustration pills. Did you get to Chapter 21 in DANDR? This is an exercept from there:

"By doing Atkins, you're making highly favorable changes to an immensely complicated system. Your metabolism will decide how quickly you lose. There is, unfortunately, no little Dr. Atkins inside you ordering your metabolism to take off precisely three quarters of a pound a day."

Weight loss is not everything on Atkins. You are improving your health with this WoE, even when this does not reflect in pounds on the scale.

You might want to read this sticky thread too: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ot-linear.html

oh yeah, and i also never took measurments when i started.
Take them now. Better to know the body measurements you had 20 days into Atkins than not to know them at all.

Oh, and although pauses in weight loss are perfectly normal, you might want to post your menu (incl. amounts and net carbs for every food) so that we can take a look.

        Re: Frustrated!!!

I have a tendency to use my scale to measure my worth rather than my weight, so I have to be really careful about my state of mind when it's time to weigh in. Also, I have to remind myself I didn't get this heavy overnight. I'm not going to lose all the weight overnight, either. These things take time...

Also, muscle weighs more than fat. If you're going to the gym 4 x's a week then BRAVO!!! I finally have a gym membership, but haven't taken advantage of it yet. I'm still working up the courage to go. Kudos to you, girl!

I encourage you to take your measurements and log them on FitDay.com. Open an account there for free then go to the "Body" tab... measure and save. Funny I rarely go back to judge those measurements as the scale is such a convenience... yet when I go back and measure I usually see progress.

Also, while your scale hasn't shown the loss, are your clothes a little loose? That's an even better indicator of progress.

Hang in there, sis! Together we can accomplish what we could never do alone!

Wow Suzanne - that is so true about the scale. I think this is how it is for me too. I have an intense love-hate relationship to that metal monster.

Hang in there mywhishers - it is very normal.

I've been there - I lost 9 pound my first month and 0 my second month! I moved up to OWL and began averaging 4-5 pounds per month since then. Have you considered moving out of Induction?

              Re: Frustrated!!!

I know it's hard but don't get frustrated! Same thing happened to me. I went from losing like 0.5lb every single day to all of a sudden not losing anything for two weeks. But the book says this is normal so I just kept working out and following the plan. After the two week "stall", I lost like 3 lbs almost overnight and then kept losing about 1.5lb per week after that.

My mother (who has lost 60lbs in the past year by eating low-carb) had the same thing happen to her several times. She said for her she would stall at weights she had been at for a long time earlier in her life.

So keep it up - you will see continued results eventually!

My progress (in the past) was about 1 pound per week, sometimes 2. If you weigh yourself everyday, it might be like watching a pot of water and waiting for it to boil. It will eventually, just not right away. You could try weighing yourself each week or every few days.

I also prefer to weigh myself in the morning before breakfast (it's when I weigh the least ).

                  Re: Frustrated!!!

When I had about a week of not losing a pound, I looked at my food, exercise routine and water consumption. After reading many posts, I learned to look for trigger foods. I realized that cream cheese and heavy cream were possible triggers. I cut these items back from being part of my daily diet to weekly treats. I also increased my water intake. A few days later the scale started to move again. Be patient and try to learn from the questions and responses on other threads. That's what got me through that short rough patch.

THANKS EVERYONE!! I am going to take my measurments and see if im at least losing inches rather then weight. i have been able to fit into a pair of jeans that i havent been able to wear for a while. they fit tight but i finally got them on. lol. i will also try posting my menu so that some of you can look it over and see if im possibly doing something wrong. i dont drink alot of water... but i have been doing sooo much better then i was b4 the diet. i used to NEVER drink water... now i drink like 2-3 bottles of dasani (16.9 oz). i know its not enough but its an improvement.

                      >>now i drink like 2-3 bottles of dasani (16.9 oz)>>

                      Glad that's an improvement!

Here's the "bad news" ... you know the MINIMUM is 64 ounces ... and many people find that drinking 1/2 their current weight in ounces of water works best ... so ... that would be 120 ounces for you ... 7 bottles.

Now ... from a "green" perspective ... can you drink tap water? Not only will it be cheaper, it will be less of an impact on the environment. You can buy refillable bottles ... and still carry them with you!

And you know that by not drinking enough water, your body will retain water ... and retaining water = no weight loss.

So ... not drinking enough ... or what you need ... you're working against yourself!

You'll need to work up to 120 ounces ... but please try to get to the 64 ounces minimum as soon as possible ... tomorrow even!

                      Your body will thank you.

Tap water or even filtered tap water (with Brita, PUR, etc.) doesn't filter out the pharmaceuticals in many municipal water supplies. Sure, it's green to drink tap water but it is not always the healthy thing to do.

Dasani and Aquafina are just filtered municipal tap water so in many cases, you might as well do the green thing and drink tap or filtered tap water. I rotate between various brands of spring & mineral waters and try to keep tap water consumption down to a minimum.
