Re: Max carb level?
Pampered, since most of us are not at Maintenance and haven't reached our CCLL, you might have better luck posting this inquiry in the Maintenance threads.

There's no need to do a survey because Dr. Atkins has the averages in the book.Originally posted by PamperedGirl View PostJust a survey….What level of carbs did you max out at to maintain weight loss?
And the chart in the book reflects what we see here on ADBB

Re: Max carb level?
It's an interesting question! I mean... sometimes I can just *feel* that my body chemistry has shifted and I'm burning carbs up like crazy. Other times I can tell that I'm a bit sluggish like I've had too many carbs and need to slow down. I do a ketostick and bam sure enough I'm just slightly in the pink.
Some days I can eat as many as 30 or 40 carbs and be a-ok. Other days I'm eating more of an induction 20 carb or lower. Either way if most of my carbs come from good veggies I'm feeling fine.

Re: Max carb level?
Pink/purple ketostix do not equate weight loss. The color on the sticks does not matter. Water, exercise, time of the day, type and amount of fat you ate, etc. will all affect the shade of pink/purple. Plus, even if the ketostix don't change color, it does not mean you are not in ketosis.Originally posted by Suzanne_H View PostI do a ketostick and bam sure enough I'm just slightly in the pink."Get action. It's going to vary for everyone.
If I were to say, 60 net carbs ... how would that affect your weight loss?J.

Re: Max carb level?
I guess my question to you is what is your need to know? So here are 2 scenarios...
If you are afraid you will never be able to add back carbs at a level to which you can adjust permanently, don't be afraid. You will. I don't know my CCLL exactly but it is somewhere around 50-55 grams. What that means is that you will occasionally be able to have some of the things you like in small portions and if you plan well on MAINTENANCE. You won't have carte blanche to eat that stuff again. Ever. Unless you want to regain your weight.
If you are trying to figure out a level you can jump to immediately and still lose weight, don't do it. You will upset the balance you have set up and likely trigger a binge, followed by a long agonizing wallow in carbs that will bring you back here in three months at an even higher weight.
Don't experiment by hopping up to a level. Go through OWL and do it right. We don;t say that because we are by the book, we say that because the experience of many bears it out.

Re: Max carb level?
Personally, I had to go through OWL again after I started gaining weight when I went back to a corporate job. I found out my CCLL dropped from 50 to 40.Robbie T., 240/180/160. 41yr Male, Height 5'9"

Re: Max carb level?
Thanks for all the feedback. My question is just out of curiosity. I know everyone is different and I don't plan on jumping levels I just wanted a guideline of what to expect from real people currently working with the diet. It looks like on average 40 to 60 carbs per day is what we can hope for.
Thanks again,
