Could you post a typical menu, including amounts and net carbs for everything you eat?
How much water are you drinking?
How long have you been on Atkins?

Re: I'm failing!
About a week ago I ate 2 cookies, and after that everything went downhill. I was doing so well for over 2 weeks. I've been eating fastfood for the last week. I'm can't control my cravings for sugar. Before bed I always say tomorrow I will eat right, but when I wake up I'm back at square 1.
Thanks alot for responding!

Re: I'm failing!
Well ... that explains the "gain", doesn't it.
So ... if you have any junk food in the house ... go throw it out right now.
PLAN what you're going to eat for breakfast ... PLAN what you're going to eat for lunch ... PLAN what you're going to eat for dinner tomorrow and then execute your plan.
If going out for fast food is your downfall, then don't go out.
Make your next bite Atkins ... and repeat as needed.J.

Re: I'm failing!
I can't get rid of the snacks because they are for my childrens lunch
I'm going to start a food journal in the morning, and my next bite will be Atkins.

Re: I'm failing!
Why not give your children healthy Atkins meals too? Just because they don't have a weight problem, it does not mean the carby/sugary stuff is healthy for them.Originally posted by tia211 View PostI can't get rid of the snacks because they are for my childrens lunch
You could add a higher carb, starchy veggie to their lunch."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

You just have to do it. The other option is all the rest of those pounds will come back on. You have to be stronger than those cravings - they will go away once you get into the groove of things.

Re: I'm failing!
My son gets cheese and a piece of fruit, or veggie sticks and yogurt, etc., etc.
Get rid of the treats.
Seriously. It's going to do them more damage then you know because they will think it's appropriate to eat that way and will end up struggling with the same thing you are right now.

Re: I'm failing!
Okay, so now you know your trigger---the availability of junk food. And you know that "one bite is the kiss of death" for you.
These are very important things for you and your Atkins (and your weight maintenance.)
Therefore, get rid of the junk food. Your children might not go cold turkey too well, so start decreasing their junk foods. Rather than give them cookies daily for their lunch, give them fruits/veggie sticks most days of the week. Eventually, you will be able to completely get rid of the cookies, chips, etc. without too much resistance from them.
Secondly, be vigilant and remember that only 2 cookies caused a downward spiral for you. Keep that in your head whenever you are offered non-Atkins foods, because "just one bite" won't hurt you-----in your case you know it does! You also have to develop plans to cope the next time this happens (and there will definitely be a next time.) What could you have done instead of eating those 2 cookies? Could you hve found an Atkins appropriate snack? Could you have taken a walk around the block, or done something other than eating the cookies? Think of strategies so you can better fend off the snacks and junk food cravings.

Re: I'm failing!
Well, my kids get both...healthy stuff and stuff that probably isn't so good for them. It has gotten better with me on atkins but it isn't perfect. What I do though is buy stuff I don't like, then I am not tempted. Things that will be a problem for me, I don't buy. We have not had brownies in the house since I started atkins. Most ice cream doesn't bother me, so that is ok. My youngest takes carrot sticks/dip for lunch. I am not on a rung for carrots yet but that is ok too. Same for apples..great time of year for apples here and my kids love them. I love them too but I can have them in the house and not have a problem with them (same for grapes, bananas, etc..lol).
I think the idea to PLAN your meals and keep a diary (or use fitday) will be helpful. Don't think about the things you can't have and the things you are craving but focus on what you will be having and try to look forward to that. Also think about what made you feel good...losing the weight or cheating?
Good luck! You can do it!

Re: I'm failing!
Don't look at it as starting Induction over. Look at it as "I will not cave in today". Keep trying until you get a good day in. Then day 2 will be easier because you made it through one, so you can do it again.
But you need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and looking at yourself as weak and unable to say no. You need to tell yourself "Dammit, I can do this!" and mean it. So get going, girl.

So how is today going so far?
Hope you have stuck to those good choices.
I am working on my choices and even after doing this for awhile - I know I have to put the right foot forward and just to the right thing.
