  • Need some 3rd week encouragement

    I probably have all the answers to my own questions, but need to hear it from someone else.
    I started my third week on Atkins today. Saturday I slipped and ate pizza and milk and had about a 1lb weight gain.
    Right now it is TOM, I am having bathroom issues (can't go ), and I can sense more weight creeping back on already.
    I've been reading that the third week is the typical 'stall' week for many people on Atkins, and as of right now I seem to have everything going against me with TOM etc.
    Do you have any advice as to how I make it through this week without getting too upset about stalls and so forth?

    It's "mind over matter", just keep following the plan as if nothing (like pizza) ever happened and just keep looking forward and don't look back, BTW as far as stalling goes, I don't think there is necessarily a "stall" after 3 weeks, but a slowing down of weight loss perhaps and TOM never did a thing to my scales. Stay positive, you are on the right track!!

    50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09

    Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

      It looks like we started at the same weight and we are the same height- I have had my times of scale not moving and some ups here and there but the long trend has been down so I am at my goal weight (or around there). Patience I think is the key but I sure can understand the frustration. Hang in there. Did you slap yourself for that pizza?

          If you're only in the 3rd week and concerned about a stall, I have to ask... how often are you weighing yourself? Be aware that the scale, for most of us, is not our friend. You can still be losing inches while that scale wants to tell you otherwise.

          As to the slip up, just journal about it like you've done here... note how you felt afterward and use it as a learning experience. TOM will leave soon enough. Try not to beat yourself up about it and concentrate on the positive aspects of eating healthy. Don't forget to flush out the body with lots and lots of good ole' H20!
