  • In your opinion.....

Tonight I just did not really feel like eating any meat so I had 1 cup of lettuce(the 5 blend kind), 1/2 cup of mushrooms, 1/8 cup onions, 2 ounces of cheese and 3 TBS of Ranch dressing. Is that ok or do you think that I should eat some meat?

For breakfast I ate 3 eggs and 3 pieces of bacon. Lunch was a hamburger patty that was about 1/3 lb with 3/4 cup lettuce and 1/4 cup green peppers with vinegar and oil dressing.

I am on day 2 of restarting induction and I am not famished as I have been in the past on day 2. Thank God!

    Thanks!

I agree, as long as you aren't hungry that should be fine - you ate fat with your veggies so you shouldn't get blood sugar symptoms and you should stay satisfied.
I often grate cheese over my salad when I don't really want meat - I get in fat/protein that way (I love cheese)

        Re: In your opinion.....

it took my body awhile to adapt to red meat

when i first was on atkins and poor i could only afford white meat chicken legs/fish

i ate that for along time also my mom was scared of mad cow for awhile

then i finally started eating red meat again and it hurt my stomach however i forced it and with in a week i adapted and it did not hurt my stomach anymore that much but also i do not like over cooking my meat crock pot or over cooked roasts make me feel crappy and hurt my gut sorta

but semi raw in the middle steaks and semi raw in the middle roast beefs are alot easier on me and have much more nutrients just make sure the outside is cooked good

any other meat though like hotdogs , chicken , ground up beef , you must cook very good though to prevent bacteria also smell your meat first before cooking it if it smells even the slightest hint bad i would toss it out

          Thanks for your replies.

Since Atkins is not a high protien diet I figured that with the salad dressing I was fine but just wanted some reassurance I guess.

For the most part I am a meat eater and have no problem with it. Last night though, it just didn't even sound good. The salad hit the spot!

Even though we are not a high protein diet. You do not want to cut out protein. They are absolutely essential to eat every day.

I would agree as well with Liv~ for me I haven't lost near as much weight as I was hoping for and once speaking with Georgiana, we reviewed my menu and she pointed out 2 things... my calories is usually low 900-1150 and my protein is only around 90-100grams, For my weight: I should be somewhere up around 2,000 calories and around 150grams of protein. I have only done it for 2 days but I'm already down 1.6 pounds. So defiantly something I'm going to continue to monitor.

I thank you for your opinions because I asked but I feel some what misunderstood. I did say that I have no problem eating protien except for that night wich was very unusual. Most days I have protien 3 meals a day so there is not a day in which I cut it out totally.

I just didn't feel like eating any on that particular NIGHT( I had already eaten protien for breakfast and lunch).

I just wondered if on one day I don't eat as much protien as I normally would do you think it would be ok? Or do you think I ALWAYS should eat protien every meal?

If by protein you mean meat... no, you do not need to eat meat with every meal. I rarely have meat for breakfast, for example.

If you eat too little protein with one meal, you might find yourself hungry not long after the meal. Of course, you can always have a snack later, if you are hungry.

But I see 2 oz of cheese in your dinner. I don't know what cheese you had, but 2 oz of cheddar, for example, have 28.24 g protein. That's about as much protein as in two chicken drumsticks!

Glad to hear the scale is cooperating, Amanda!

One point I'd like to make here. Based on your weight and height, your BMR is around 2300 kcal. This is the number of calories your body needs if you spent the whole day in bed, doing absolutely no movement, and not having eaten for about 12 hours. Obviously, this is not what happens in real life. Even typing this posts requires extra calories. So, in your case, 2300 kcal is the lower limit. Based on your activity level, you will be normally eating more than this.
