I have swirls in my urine (a couple of years ago, there was someone who poo-poo'd me for it). I don't see the actual swirls, just the shadows of them on the bottom of the bowl. I see them when I am in ketosis, usually during a good weight loss period. Don't seem them as much when I'm losing tenths of pounds per day.
That being said, make sure you also rule out a urinary tract infection - urine should still be clear (not cloudy), no foul odor, no urge to pee when you don't have to, no burning upon urination, no fever, etc.

I would not say oily swirls but I really think my urine changes when I hit ketosis. Also several vitamins will discolour urine (and some foods - like one of my favourites asparagus)

it is just like a shiny film .. even when it is clear .. like oil is in the pan ..i think this must mean i am in ketosis even though my sticks are showing neg
One note--I have not had the "swirls" of which you speak, but did want to comment on cocobelle's comments because when you are in ketosis your urine may have a strong and unusual odor which can be unpleasant--it doesn't mean anything is wrong. It's actually a positive sign that you ARE in ketosis.
