If it's not in the meat, you could always tell them not to put it on it.

You may want to look through this site and see ...

      Hope that helps!

The Daily Plate lists the Cobb salad as having zero carb but 13 fiber. Duh

Anyways I think a plain burger is a possibility - ask questions about what they add to it? I try to eat grilled meat or fish at restaurants or go to restaurants where they do have good nutritional info so that I can make some good choices I can live with.

            Re: Burger then?

They have a really good nutrition page and red robin - definitely a good choice and a nice place to play around with what you can have. You can check to see how many carbs their burgers are without the bun and you can custom order your salads. You can also lettuce wrap your burger there. Check that out!!!!
I would probably choose cobb salad without the garlic bread and bacon bits.

Not if bacon bits are synthetic - they they are made with wheat and soy. If it is real bacon then it would be OK. I guess I could ask if it was real bacon before I asked them to hold it.

                  Re: Burger then?

Not to be a downer, but I worked at restaurants YEARS ago when I was first going to college, and I wouldn't totally trust the info I got from a server. Often they have not worked there very long, and on top of that they are frequently not the most informed about the contents of menu items. Even though it is unintentional, they are not necessarily the most accurate in their responses. Finding out from a manager is much better. I find it best to try to find out as much as I can ahead of time from a website, or even a phone call, and am wary of everything I didn't fix myself. Other than a plain piece of beef or a plain hamburger patty and plain steamed veggies, I look at everything with a wary eye.

That being said, being totally paranoid isn't a great way to live either - I just like to be aware of what I'm potentially up against, so I can cut way back on carbs before I go to make up for any accidental mistakes.

Even if it is real bacon, it is likely sugar-cured. I would skip it or carefully ration it if I was trying to be really strict.

I agree with you. But to go further, unless the eating establishment hand makes their own burger, (which nowadays is highly unlikely) there is no such thing as a "plain hamburger". Most restaurants get their patties from a food service provider and they are always full of stuff, including preservatives, fillers, tons of salt and seasonings, etc.
We owned a restaurant for 20 years, so I know. And when we made our own burgers from lean meat, people complained there was a lack of taste, which is true. You get more flavor from fattier meats. And when we finally started ordering our burgers from our food supply company (full of stuff), everyone was happy and loved them, despite they were not as healthy as our original homemade burger. So there it is!

I was thinking primerib at outback w/salad - bring my own dressing
or at red robin either a burger no bun and salad bring my own dressing or they ahve a chicken ensalada platter - no toritlla chips

or a burger at applebee's with salad and bring my own dressing.
