  • Davinci Sugar Free Syrups

The Davinci site says that the syrups are sold at Super Walmart. I'd like to get a couple, but the nearest Super Walmart is about 40 minutes away and I don't want to trek down there if I'm not going to find what I want. Does it generally seem that all Super Walmarts carry the syrups? What products in the store are they located near? Oh, and what flavors are best? Are there any to stay away from

    Thanks!

PS - I know I can call the store, but I'll probably end up on hold for ages and talk to 10 different people who don't know what I'm talking about which is why I'm asking here first!

Do you know what you're going to do with the syrups?

Me ... I've been doing Atkins almost 6 years and have never used them. Never had a reason.

I hope someone answers this because I have looked several times to no avail. So does anyone know where they are? I looked in the syrup Isle. Maybe it's near the pharmacy?

My SuperWalmart carries Torani and Davinci Syrups. They are next to the coffee. What flavors are good or bad is really a matter of personal taste, and it also depends how you are going to use them.

When you call the store to see if they carry it, have them have a manager check, they tend to have a better idea of what you are talking about rather than just a random employee. And tell them it is a syrup to add to coffee and other beverages and desserts. And they come in regular and Sugar-free so be sure it says sugar free on the front. The labels all tend to look alike.

Also try World Market or Trader Joe's.

        Happy Shopping!

TJ Maxx and Marshall's carry them at a discount price. They're located in the gourmet foods section. Flavors vary by store. I've also seen the Torani vanilla and hazelnut in Shaw's and Stop & Shop in the coffee isle. The Christmas Tree Shops sometimes carry them too.

As Mission To Lose mentioned, make sure you get the sugar free syrups. Remember that these count towards your daily sweetener allowance. I bought a lot of these syrups when I was doing Medifast and to be honest I wasn't that impressed with them. Many of the flavors taste very similar and some of them just have tantalizing names but don't have that flavor really. While they were somewhat useful in flavoring Medifast shakes, I can't think of much use for them in Atkins. Especially during Induction, they use up precious carbs and do not help to break any sweets addictions.

If you'd like to share what you plan to use them for, maybe I can suggest some good flavors or other alternatives to the syrups. HTH

I have to admit, I thought these sounded really good and was excited to find the SF Vanilla in "Stuffmart" (Walmart). I have had it probably 4 months at least and used it three times (only because I had it, not because I needed it for something).
I just find myself sticking to basic food and not wanting (or needing) sweeter stuff. I would start with one flavor/bottle and see how much you really like it/use it. Just my .02.

              Re: Davinci Sugar Free Syrups

My local WalMart has only Torani Vanilla and Hazelnut in the sugar-free form. I've used the Vanilla quite a bit to make "pancakes" (eggs, cream cheese, cinnamon, SF vanilla syrup). I used the Hazelnut in my coffee once and didn't like it.

I found several SF Davinci flavors at a store called Home Goods but have yet to find many uses for those particular flavors. I've tried adding a small amount of raspberry flavor to club soda, and it makes a refreshing "spritzer," but I don't drink it often.

                Re: Davinci Sugar Free Syrups

Hey Mizski, I know you cook a lot - I haven't purchased any of these flavored syrups myself, but have noticed them in a number of Linda's Low Carb recipes that I might like to try. Not knowing how leaving them out might affect the recipe (loss of liquid, for example, even if I added in some vanilla flavoring and stevia to sub for the vanilla syrup), I was thinking I would have to buy some in order to try a few of those recipes. This was several weeks ago when I was cruising through her website, wish I could remember more specifically. Maybe some bread type items or muffins, along with a few desserts. Seems like it was usually about a half cup of vanilla syrup in this or that - seemed like a lot of liquid to just remove from something and still have it turn out right.

Do you have any particular ideas on that, or would it be recipe specific? I wonder if I could just add water or watered down cream, some vanilla flavoring and stevia...
(I'm wanting to try a few recipes out to get ready for the holidays - would like to find some things to put on the table that others would enjoy besides just me, LOL!).

                Thanks for any ideas.

I only have the SF raspberry. I like to add a drop or two to my salad dressing of EVOO, vinegar, salt and pepper. Whisk it together to make a great raspberry vinaigrette for a change. Goes great with spinach and feta salad.

                    Re: Davinci Sugar Free Syrups

I've added it to yogurt (Rung 2) since the sugar-free low-carb full-fat ones that I can find here are a bit bitter. I have also used it in coffee occasionally (rarely). I have 3 flavours and rarely use them.

I found them in an Italian food store here.

I agree with Mizski...the flavors sound tantalizing, but most don't live up. I use the raspberry for seltzer spritzers (very good). I do a lot of protein shakes so I thought I would LOVE them. And as Mizski says, the flavors I've tried all tend to taste very similar. Peanut butter does NOT have a strong, striking PB taste -- more of a toasted "nougat" perhaps -- but then, lo and behold, it tastes...like the french vanilla! ...and the egg nog? a weaker version of the french vanilla with a bit of PB taste thrown in. I use them occasionally, but I surely don't love them. Perhaps the fruit flavors are better! Not bad, not great ...

I bought my first bottle of the Da Vinci syrup today, french vanilla flavor. It tastes great in my coffee with a little heavy cream. I just made some cheesecake bars from Linda's low carb website, and it called for 1/2 cup of the syrup. It will be interesting to see how sweet it turns out...still in the oven.
