Hey guys,
I started here 5 months ago and lost 25 lbs. (I didn't get down to what I wanted to before I left, but C'est la vie!) I stopped the diet when I left for Europe for a month. I actually tried to stick with it for the first few weeks. I did OK -- certainly not by this board's standards, but OK considering the circumstances. In Germany and Austria, they eat a lot of cold cut-type meat and cheese slices for breakfast in addition to breads. I was managing OK.
The ultimate challenge for me was that much of the food over there was inedible to me. I would order something low-carb-ish, (Restaurant eating and eating at friends' homes, I didn't have much control or nutritional information, so I had to kind of guess. I stuck to meats and low carb veggies dishes when available and take two bites and be unable to choke down another bite.
By day 5, I was starving! So I started eating the only thing edible. Bread and lots of it. They eat it with every meal -- giant breads. I actually didn't enjoy the taste that much, but I was hungry!
Anyway, back in the states now and a day in. I'm starting back on induction tomorrow.
Oh, weight gain. I gained five pounds. I think that's likely water retention that will hopefully come off fairly quickly. But if not, I'm here for the long haul and it will eventually. Hope everyone here lost tons while I was gone!
