Re: back fat
Tia - yes, you WILL lose the back fat. Losing fat is losing fat~ everywhere. The body burns fuel 4 ways: 1st to burn, fuel #1 - carbohydrates, which have turned into glucose; 2nd to burn, fuel #2 - glycogen, stored glucose in the liver and muscle tissue; 3rd to burn, fuel #3 - Fat stores in your body stored in fat cells (The Fat you want to lose); and 4th to burn, fuel #4 - protein, used to replenish body tissue. Any excess will be burned as fuel.
Keep losing the weight, losing the fat and your body will do the rest for making the back fat disappear.
You can't "exercise" the back fat away. Eat right (Atkins) to lose weight and the back fat will go away. You should exercise to build muscle, improve body tone, promote healthy circulatory and respiratory systems, and increase your metabolism.
So with all that said, here are 3 articles for "Workouts for a Better Back":

Back Extension with Ball Exercise Demonstration
There's an exercise similar to these I do at the gym where they have a metal stand especially built for back extensions, but these are very effective! The second link shows the one I do at home using one of those inflatable exercise balls. They're not expensive, bought mine at Wal-Mart.

Be careful with back extensions. They are not for everyone. Listen to your body.

Re: back fat
I found the back fat did just melt away eventually (especially those horrid back bra bumps-- or the "back boobs" as I used to call them... yuck) You can do exercises for your rear shoulders and lats which will help tone these areas as you are melting away. My trainer showed me the reverse fly exercise on the fly machine and this has really helped carve out some mucho sexy back muscles (nothing too too much)
Here's a link demoing it
PhysicalFitnet - Exercise Video - machine reverse fly
We don't do these too too often, maybe every other week or once a week on occasion but they are effective and wow you can feel them.
As always, it's good to ask for help at the gym if you are unsure or new to an exercise to make sure you are doing it safely and effectively.
Lots of luck on saying bye bye back fat; boy does that feel good!!!

Re: back fat
you can't lose fat specifically on your back, as your metabolism breaksdown fat from everywere. You can however do resistance based exercise to tone muscle, tighten skin, help increase speed of weight loss in general and make the back look more sculpted, and defined over all.
There are mulitple exercises you can use, as the back has 3 groupings of muscle, lats, traps, and lower back. You dont have to do weighted exercise if you dont want to gain to much muscle, you can simply use body weight exercise's, or use smaller weight with increased reps.
Though I recommend some resistance based cardio, like rowing, using interval training which is basically increasing and decreasing the speed and intensity throughout your workout is the most effective. This will not only burn alot of fat while your working out, and help tone your back. But also as you've used resistance to bascially strain your muscles you'll continue to burn fat for 12hours afterward aswell.
The only other thing I would recommend is giving your core a good workout, do some russian twists, planks and legs raises, ensuring you keep those abs as tight as you can while working them and you'll find it makes a surprising difference. It actually pulls your belly in, giving you better shape, and this will help to tighten your back too, as you'll be working the obliques (side muscles) so it helps to shape those hips or as we say in Australia, 'love handles'.
If you have any questions about any of what I've written, or if you'd like some advice on what specific exercise's to try then message me, hope this helps!

Re: back fat
No comment on the exercise - that's been covered. I did lose a whole lot of back fat - and I continue to do so. I expect that you will too.

Re: back fat
I promise one day you'll throw on a bra, turn around and see your reflection in the mirror and wonder when you had that surgery to remove the back boobies. BAM!!! They'll be gone or at least very reduced!!!
Exercise sped up the process for me. I really believe the weightlifting had more to do with the back fat than anything else I did besides this WOE.
Good luck and let us know what you discover works for you.
